THE HAUNTED HEART : FULL MOON

Chapter 7

"What?!"

They were all shocked with Kai's sudden remark, even Kiernan was dumbfounded when he unexpectedly volunteered to let him stay at his house.

"It's fine, besides, I was the one who brought him here... I don't think I should leave him alone..."

Kai's friends were speechless. There was a moment of silence, they never thought that there'd be a day that Kai would make such a risky decision. When he makes a decision, they never questioned him, because it always benefits them, because it was always right, but maybe not for him? He was always the logical one,  the one who keeps them intact, but no one keeps him in check

They didn't want to agree with Kai's decision because something might happen to him as they don't trust Kiernan. Also, Kai doesn't like depending on his friends, he always kept everything by himself.

"Well... If that's Kai's decision, we won't retaliate, just... Make sure to tell us if something goes wrong"

Austin smiled as he broke the silence in the room, they all exhaled in relief, because they didn't know what to say. Kai nodded as a reply.

It's early in the morning, they were already packing up to go back to Jackson. However, Kiernan.....

"Do not touch me, you wretch! Get rid of that... Whatever that is, it looks filthy!"

"What the hell?! Your f*cking ugly cloak that you've been wearing was worse, and you call mine filthy?! You stupid motherf*cki--"

"Both of you...please, that's enough"

Kai sighed as he stopped Kiernan and Wilder from fighting over a shirt. Kai wanted to give Kiernan some clothes after he made him shower, but none of his clothes would fit Kiernan since they were too small for him. He then bothered Wilder to let Kiernan borrow his clothes, including his pants.... Wilder hesitatingly agreed, but it backfired on them.

Kiernan is now standing infront of them, with a frown on his face with only a towel to cover. Austin was laughing so much with how he enjoyed the fight over something so trivial as clothes. Wilder was already fuming with anger, but Kiernan just rolled his eyes.

Kai took the clothes from Wilder's hands, Wilder didn't react and just crossed his arms. Kai walked towards  Kiernan and is now infront of him. Kiernan was looming over Kai, but he doesn't care.

"Kiernan... Don't you think you're being unfair here? You know you owe me, right? Now do me a favor and put this on, I'll buy you new ones as soon as we arrive on Jackson"

Kiernan frowned more, and his already furrowed brows knitted further to the point that it almost touches each other. He couldn't talk back to Kai, he knew he was right and that he owes his life to him. Kiernan clenched his teeth and clicked his tongue as he forcedly took the clothes from Kai and put it on.

Kai smiled in relief and walked out to get his things. Wilder smirked and continued to pack his things with Austin, Kiernan couldn't do anything but to exhale in so much frustration and anger.

"What took you so long?"

"Ask Wilder, it was really funny, hahaha"

Austin replied with a high tone as he grinned to Jett who was waiting for all of them to come out, it was his turn to drive. Wilder Roberts, who was standing behind Austin didn't said anything and just clicked his tongue, Austin chuckled at Wilder's reaction.

Jett Roosevelt was confused and felt curious what had happened since Austin didn't want to spill the tea. He then noticed Kai and Kiernan walking out of the cabin.

"Hey Kai, mornin'.. so what happened?"

"What?"

Austin Smith burst out a laugh when Jett quickly questioned Kai. Kiernan was bemused as to what they were talking about and why Austin was laughing.

They're now in the car to travel back to Jackson where they live, along with Kiernan. Kai Vanderbilt is the one who is currently driving because of Wilder Roberts who didn't want to sit besides Kiernan, including Austin.

So they made Kai to drive instead, and  since he's the only that Kiernan listens to, he is also at the front seat besides Kai, while Jett, Austin, and Wilder are at the back and is sound asleep.

"Aren't you going to sleep too?"

Kai questioned Kiernan in a low voice but didn't looked at him, as he is concentrating on the road.

"How can a person sleep in such a strange vehicle? Other than its speed, it is also comfortable..... It is very suspicious.."

Kiernan was amused as he was touching everything he saw in the car as he replied to Kai in such an obviously curious but excited tone. Kai Vanderbilt noticed that and couldn't help but chuckle at his cute remarks that was obviously the opposite of what he's doing.

"Pfft.. you'll be even more surprised once we get there, I can see that you really don't know anything, huh?"

Kiernan remained silent. Kai noticed that Kiernan didn't said anything. So he immediately looked at Kiernan for a second.

"What's wrong--"

Kai flinched when he saw Kiernan was staring at him, and as soon as Kai noticed that, he quickly turned his head, he didn't knew why but he felt embarrassed, flustered even. He just continued to drive with the view of the long lake again.

"A woman..."

Kiernan mumbled to himself, it turned out Kai's guess was right, the person that he saw besides the lake was a woman. Although, Kai heard Kiernan saying something, he could only vaguely hear it so he tried to clarify him.

"What was that?"

Yet ,Kiernan didn't respond once again. Kai sighed in frustration asking himself if he's talking to a mannequin.

It's already 1 pm when they arrived in Jackson, so they stopped at a restaurant that was bustling with people since they were already hungry. Kiernan couldn't believe what he saw as soon as they entered the city, and he is still in awe when they entered the restaurant.

"What's wrong with that bastard?"

Wilder cussed as he questioned Kai when they've sat. Kai turned his head  towards Kiernan who was looking at every part of the restaurant to the point that he had to stand with his obviously enthusiastic expression.

They all sighed in exhaustion and embarrassment as they stop him from being too pumped up.
