Chapter 6

"What?"

"I said..."

Kiernan slowly approached them to get closer. Austin and Jett flinched when they made eye contact with him.

"Why can I not come along? Am I not allowed again?"

Kai didn't know what Kiernan meant the word 'again' but because of his low, soft voice that he made, he knew that he was hurt, though it didn't show from his expression because he's been having this poker face for a while now.

"I'm only going to tell them what happened to you there, to make them decide if you should stay with us or not....."

"That's all, so just wait there"

They were all in Jett's room, Kai told them about the man's condition, that he was sick and crazy and had been living in that church for years.

"That's absurd! there's nothing to eat there, and he would've died there a long time ago if he was sick!"

"And his only companions there were corpses... Ughh, I'm getting goosebumps"

"Kai... Were you threatened? Did he told you to tell us that he was sick and that he has been living there for years? although, we do believe that he's obviously crazy"

Kai pressed the tip of his nose because of all their crazy ideas, he was confused why they wouldn't believe that Kiernan was sick since it was pretty noticeable because of those black veins he has.

"Just hear me out guys, can't you see those black veins he had? He clearly has some kind of an illness"

"What black veins?"

Jett questioned with so much curiosity in his tone, Wilder and Austin looked at Kai with a confused look.

Kai flinched as they looked at him in so much confusion, and he knew that they weren't the type to joke around as they're in such a serious state. He was horrified, he thought he's actually gone crazy before he left the church so he immediately stood up and hurriedly ran downstairs.

"Kai?! What's wrong?! Where are you going?!"

Kai was running down the stairs, stomping his feet. He hurriedly looked for Kiernan who was at the living room and felt curious why the couch was so comfortable.

As for Kai, he was gasping for air as he ran too fast because he was in a hurry, then he immediately held and  lifted Kiernan's face. He was surprised because the black veins was still there. He then thought of something.

"Can you take off that cloak?"

"KAI?!"

Kai's friends followed Kai downstairs because they were worried, but they heard something that they didn't thought would come out from Kai's mouth. They were flabbergasted by his sudden request but sounded like an ediction

"Austin, let me cover your eyes"

"Shut up Wilder, I want to see this"

"Hey Kai! If you want to take off his cloak, do it somewhere! I think my  baby's getting stolen from me!"

"Just what are you saying?!"

Meanwhile Kiernan, who was also flabbergasted by Kai's impulsive request, unconsciously followed Kai. They all flinched when Kiernan started taking off the cloak.

They were all surprised that even Austin was putting his hands on his mouth because of how Kiernan looked. Though he was only half naked, it was enough for them to stare at him in awe.

He had an unexpected beautiful porcelain skin, it wasn't noticeable because of the cloak and his long hair, but he was also fit for someone who stayed in an abandoned church his whole life. Now, it made them even more suspicious of Kiernan.

Unfortunately, it was different for Kai. He glanced at his friends who were gawking at Kiernan's body, they weren't horrified, because they could only see Kiernan's clear skin. Kai was confused and looked at Kiernan's body with a bitter expression.

The black veins that were so vivid in Kai's eyes were all over his body. What irks him the most was that... From his point of view, every bit of the veins all started from his heart. At that exact spot... It was pitch black, it was like his heart was taken out of his body, but instead of dying, he remains alive and it was chained by all of this things that spreads every part of his body, and he remains cold as ice.

Kai couldn't bear to think of how it must've hurt. He sat down besides Kiernan and unconsciously touched his chest where his heart lies. His body was indeed cold... Kai frowned at what he had felt on his fingertips.

"Does it hurt?"

Kiernan glanced at his own arms, it was full of those veins. He then looked at Kai's hands that were touching the surface of his heart. He felt warm on the spot that Kai has touched... He then slowly shakes his head as a reply to Kai's question.

"Are you flirting with him, Kai?"

Kai was taken aback and was flustered by Wilder's absurd question,  Kai immediately took his hands back. Kiernan was back to his usual grumpy face.

"I-I'm not, it was because of the--"

"It's okay, I totally understand you Kai, he has such a nice physique even with his mental illness"

Jett grinned as he rested his head on his hands that were supported by his other arm.

Kai couldn't do anything but sigh in humiliation, he glanced at Kiernan and sighed again, somehow, he had sighed too much in a day. He couldn't even believe why he was the only one who could see the horrid veins that has spread on Kiernan's body.

"So..... Where will he stay when we get home?"

Everyone froze up when Austin asked a question that they were supposed to talk about when they were upstairs, all of them forgot about it.

"Definitely not at ours, I will not allow that guy to stay with Austin"

Wilder already rejected the idea that Kiernan might live at their house.

"What about Jett?"

"Oh, no, not mine. You all know I live with my parents, they'll bombard him with questions if I brought him with me"

They all sighed as they didn't want Kiernan to live in with them.

"He'll stay with me"

"What?!"
