"Why can't you just listen to me..."
"Huh?"
"Can't you remember when you suddenly choked me to death, and you were constantly screaming and shouting the word die?! It was frightening! I just came home that day because I was worried and then I saw you on the floor mumbling... I was anxious every time I was with you, I was anxious that the next time I come home, you'll end up killing me!"
Kai widened his eyes and his brows furrowed in sadness, his voice and body trembled at the same time. It has only been a day since the incident, so it still stayed as fresh and vivid in Kai's mind. He appeared to be calm and collected the next day after having to go through a spontaneous trauma, but it was only the surface.... deep down, he was scared.
Although, even after Kai's confession of how he's been feeling, Kiernan was stuck in his thoughts full of madness and despise towards Kai.
He had lost the trust he wanted to give to Kai, they went out of the apartment only to find out that he will be possibly get isolated from the world again. He was afraid to turn to anyone and ask for their help anymore because in the end... It will only be him who'll get hurt and no one, not even a single person would care of how he feels.
"So I'm a deranged person in your eyes huh?!"
"What do I do with him?"
Kai squatted down as he covered his face with his arms, he didn't know what to do anymore, and he just wanted to help Kiernan a little, but it only backfired on him.
Suddenly, a stranger came up to him. She had a sling bag with her, and she looked as average but with a unique and kind aura surrounding her.
"Excuse me? Are you alright?"
Kai looked up to her in dismay, and when he recognized the face, he had a surprised look as he stared at her, and she had the same expression as she gently covered her mouth with her hands.
"Raelynn?"
"Kai?!"
Kiernan walked and walked on the road until he reached the park. It was full of happy people frolicking with their partners, and some with their offsprings.
His eyes reflected a child who was laughing with his parents. It somehow brought him back to his past when he would look out from the windows of the church, and somehow he would feel like he was waiting for someone, but he didn't know who he was waiting for when he already knew that his mother has already abandoned her. Although a part of him deep inside wanted it to happen, that his mother would walk in that very door where he and Kai had their first conversation... but, he could only dream of it and accepted his fate, at such a young age Kiernan had already accepted the harsh truth of his life, and that there was no point in waiting for someone that you know would never come.
He continued to walk amidst the crowd, and as he steps forward. Jett Roosevelt was surprised when he saw Kiernan, and didn't hesitate to immediately call Kai.
Kai Vanderbilt on the other hand was in a cafe with the girl who coincidentally past by Kai and she surprisingly an acquaintance of Kai. It turned out she was Kai's friend since high school and didn't had time to meet up again when they entered college because they had different universities and were far apart.
"So how are you? Are you still hanging with Jett?"
"Yeah, he's currently having fun with his channel and involving me in it with some of our friends"
Kai chuckled with his hand on his nape, somehow looking awkward in front of her. While continuing their conversation, Kai was thinking of Kiernan and had a worried look, he thought of where he might be right now, what he's doing, and what might happen to him.
The girl, Raelynn Laurier noticed Kai's expression and initiated a question out of concern.
"By the way, are you okay? You were sitting at the side of the road for a while, did something... happen? I mean, I'm not trying to meddle in your business, it's just that..."
"It's okay, I just... had a fight with someone, it was kinda my fault too... even though we were supposed to hang out and have fun, I blew it up and made a mistake...."
Kai Vanderbilt said in a husky voice and turned his head on the window, hoping that he would see him walking there with his usual poker face but was full of curiosity and excitement. It was only in that moment, Kai realized that Kiernan was such an open book. Although he thought of it as cute, he didn't smile, instead it made him hurt more.
"I thought that I was making the right decision, it turned out I'm still lacking when it comes to feeling any empathy towards people... I guess I'm still not capable of changing my flawed personality..."
Raelynn Laurier had a concerning look towards Kai as he looked back at her with a crestfallen smile, she has known Kai since high school, and he was always the type to overthink things, but he always knew and did the right decisions and everyone liked him but he was always putting up some thick and tall walls between him and everyone... including her.
"Kai... You underestimate yourself too much, you've done enough right? What you only need is to open up, believe me, nothing's wrong if you just say what's on your mind. The same goes with the person you're having a hard time with"
Raelynn smiles at him as she looked at his eyes that were obviously surprised by what she said. Kai chuckled a bit and blushed, and he couldn't help to laugh at what she had said and he felt a burden was lifted off his chest.
He thought at that moment that maybe she was right, maybe what he needed was to at least lower down his walls and meet eye to eye with Kiernan. He realized at that time that what kept them to misunderstood each other was because of his own limitation of people to not encroach in his life...and he smiled, he smiled and thanked Raelynn, and she welcomed him as she stared at him with her head supported by the palms of her right hand. She looked at him in admiration, as she smiled and blushes of how radiant he looked.
Suddenly, Kai's phone vibrated and when he looked at it, it was Jett who was calling him.
