Drac had to wear the same pieces he wore on Mavis wedding. With shaky legs, he was waiting for the ball to begin. To make sure that no bad surprises appear, he asked the elders about the dance. Of all people he could have gotten the info from, his father was the one to speak up. "Son, if you play your cards right, you get a new wife soon." Drac, no fond of his father's advice, held his hands up in defense, "I don't want another wife, I...just want to have fun...you know...dancing...with a partner?" Vlad grinned wide, "Ah yes, dancing with a woman...so many memories come back." "Dad, please no embarrassing memories now, just tell me how it works tonight." But Vlad had other ideas, facing the elders,"Drac was such a coward back then, that even the most beautiful woman ran off scared." His son could only frown, as the group began to laugh out loud.

"Did I miss something?"

Drac turned on his heel, only to face Norris. He was pleased to see the count, "Ah, Dracula. Fancy a dance eh?" "Well, yes. I just don't know how."

"First time?"

He nodded.

"I can tell you how it is done. But first we need to dress you up."

Drac didn't understand. Wasn't his suit enough?Apparently not. Norris gave him a cloak, a hat and a mask, a 'bauta' mask. No one could recognize the count under the new dress code. Norris explained, "Today, the men are in disguise, while the girls wear a smaller mask only. Every man can chose their partner and spend the night together. The next dance will be the other way around."

Shouldn't be that bad right?

For Mavis and Jonny was it a disaster. The hall was full of people in disguise, it was impossible for them to find Drac. Mavis tried her luck on the man in the corner, where she had left him. "You ready?" "Ready than ever sweetheart." His voice was lower...and familiar.

"Grandpa Vlad?!"

He removed his mask and gave her a wink, "In the flesh...and hey...I get lonely too."

He knew exactly why Drac wanted to take part; he does it for the same reason. Mavis left her grandfather and ran back to her husband, "Jonny, this is bad. My whole plan is ruined!" "Why, get your dad and I take care of this other guy." She took his head and pushed it towards the crowd, "Oh yeah, then tell me which one are you taking care of?"

"Oh holy bat!"

"Exactly! So what now?"

Jonny began to smile, "Don't worry, I got an idea."

Mavis wasn't too sure of what he meant, until he began to raise his arms up and yelled towards the group. "Yoh, free blood cocktails for all dudes!"

Like a pack of wolves, they stormed the table of drinks. Jonny placed himself behind it and handed them out one by one. "Only one drink mind. To be sure, take your masks off." The young Dracula was pleased to see her husband's plan was working. She stood beside the boy, whispering over to him, "And how are you going to tell the owner about the 'free' part?" Normally they cost two dollars. "Let that be my problem darling."She pinched his cheek, "It is YOUR problem dear."

"One drink, please."

The next vampire coming over was, Lorence. He was looking extremely fancy tonight. Mavis was amazed by his appearance,on the other side extremely concerned. Does her father even have a chance against that guy? Jonny handed him the cocktail, "Feeling lucky mate?"

"Very Lucky. I just hope that the girl of my dreams will come tonight."

The young Dracula couldn't resist, "And, who is the lucky one?"

He glanced around; making sure that no one else was around, "She is an old friend of mine. I know her for years and tonight is my chance to tell her how I feel." The young couple didn't like the sound of that. Not only that. Drac was still missing. All the vampires were getting their drinks, so why didn't he? He was still with Norris. They both go together to that event. Drac cannot refuse this demand from the owner of the hotel...or the father of N/A.

Speaking of me.

I was in the kitchen. Not the right place to get ready for a ball. The cook handed me a lid to see my reflection. It is not the best mirror, but putting make up on without one, is even more risky. I hated how I look, since I am no fan of dresses...especially long, glamorous ones. One of the caterers pulled up the zipper up and styled my hair. While everyone stood there, making an 'awww' sound, I moaned frustrated. The cook was irritated,"What with that moaning? Aren't you pleased to dance with a handsome guy?" I shrugged, "Don't know, they all look the same tonight." "That is because you should get to know the man and not judge him by appearance only." Raising my brow, I showed at my mask, "Yeah, I wear a mask that doesn't hide much; I bet no one will judge me by my looks." "Stop being so nasty and get going; the dance will start any minute!" I was not in the mood to dance tonight and not right after such a long night shift catering.

Back with Jonny and Mavis, they had to stop Laurence for this plan.

Luckily, Jonny had a brainstorm of ideas. He grabbed the vampire and whispered into his ear. Laurence seem to like it. The two left the room in a hurry. Mavis trusts her husband completely. Well, there wasn't much choice there anyway. She needed to find her dad and soon.

Drac was on his way to the hall, as the door of the kitchen had opened.

He and Norris stood there with the same look on their faces as the kitchen staff. I gave them my middle finger in response."Now, now N/A. That is not very lady like." I stuck out my tongue at Norris, "And gawp like idiots aren't very gentleman like either." He came closer to my side, while Drac stayed at the back. I glared at Norris, "I hate dresses." "I know honey, but tonight it is important." The count was still staring with excitement. I moved my head to the side, to see him, "Drac, you are dancing as well?" He didn't answer. "Drac?" Still standing there like a statue, I told Norris to go ahead. Now I was before the lord of darkness, "Earth to Drac, can you hear me?"

"...you look beautiful."

My worries faded, "You really need a pair of glasses."

"No, no, I mean it. Like a true Vampire lady."

"More like Morticia from the Addams family."

It was clear that he doesn't know her, his face looked puzzled, "...Morticia?"

"Never mind. Let's get this over with."

"N/A, wait!"

Turning back around, I got startled at the sight. Count Dracula went down on one knee and asked me to be his dance partner tonight. Maybe this might not be such a boring night after all. I nodded pleased, taking his arm, "Don't forget the mask."

Mavis was still waiting for a sign of her dads, as I arrived with my dance partner. Jonny had also returned, "Mission complete, he is busy for a while."

"What did you do?"

"I told him that the girl he is looking for is outside in the woods."

This sounded ridiculous, "He actually fell for it?"

Jonny grinned, "Obviously."

Behind him stood Norris now, pleased with the amount of vampires, "Wonderful, even N/A and Lorence are already together. This couldn't get any better."

"Lorence?!" Mavis had hoped that this was not true. Norris also told some elders about a vampire roaming the hotel, like he is lost. They have no doubt that this was her dad. The two stared at my dancing partner, feeling bad that their plan has failed horribly.

But...

...they don't give up that easily. They both had the same thought:

"We have to stop them!"
