Sir Camelly was not able to be stopped, not even as the door opened. He wanted to fly out and take revenge on me. Norris knew exactly what he was up to, using all his strength to keep him on the ground. Both of them aren't aware of the danger that awaits them. Laurence and Leona are lucky to be alive after the massacre. Sir Camellay had ripped off the chandelier, causing a small hole in the ceiling. Through that tiny space, they could crawl in with their bat form and fly away into the night. Nothing held them back, not even I. The couple flew to Laurence home, letting the rest of his family know about the incident. Even so, they both hope that I made it out the woods safely, starting a new life somewhere far away. Norris wants to make sure that this will be my future, a new start for his daughter...even if it means to die for it. It took only a few seconds, as the stakes went flying towards them. Sir Camellay was out cold immediately, turning to dust. The first wooden stake had gone through his body, making a massive hole into his heart. Even Norris had to feel it, screaming out his daughter's name one last time.
I jumped at the sound.
Never have I heard him call me like that before, it sounded painful...full of guild and sorrow. Looking over the wall, the mist was starting to clear, giving me a better sight. From where I was, I could see the hotel. At least for the last time, as a figure went over to the building, setting it on fire. Unknown of who that might be, I slowly went back to the burning hotel. Rita's boyfriend left the scene disappointed, forgetting that they turn to ashes when they get impaled. He was looking forwards to have something on his wall, like a head or the fangs. Norris hasn't turned to ashes yet, but he didn't want to wait. That way, I had the opportunity to get closer to the building, seeing my father at the doorstep. The stake was deep inside his chest, it is only a matter of minutes before he joins Sir Camellay's ashes.
Although I should hate him for what he has done, I felt nothing but sadness.
"Dad..."
Norris face was covered in blood and yet, he managed to pull a smile for his daughter, "...my daughter...I am sorry...for everything...."
"Don't say that! You will get better and we can be a family again." I wanted to grab the stake to pull it out, as his hand grabbed mine, "...don't. I deserved this..."
"...you deserve to die! You can't die...you can't..." I couldn't stop crying, lying my head to his chest, "...I need you...don't leave me..."
"I can't be with you anymore, but I am sure that there is someone out there that will always be there for you...taking better care of you than I ever could."
My tears got stronger, "You can't die! I won't allow it...you promised to protect me forever."
His smiled didn't fade, touching my cheek tenderly, "And I kept that promise...you are free now. No one will harm you ever again."
"Dad...no..."
"Even vampires have to go one day..." He asked me to place him inside his hotel before it was completely up in flames. Norris sees this place as his home; this is where he lived most of his life, with his family, his guest and me, "I don't know a better place than dying where I lived with my loved ones. Don't forget your family N/A... promise me, that you always cherish the sweet memories of us and what the future will give..." The fire was already close to burn the ends of my dress. I leaned towards my father face, kissing his forehead one last time, "I will..."
With his hands he wiped off the tears of my eye," ...I love you..."
They only came back, only stronger, "...love you too...dad..."
Stepping back from the hotel, I sat on the floor and watched how it all burned down. All the memories of the past were flooding my mind; all the vampires and monsters that helped are either gone or burned along with my father. It feels like I lost a part of myself, burning away with the hotel. Once the humans will see the fire, nothing remains but ashes. I couldn't stay here for long, I had to leave soon. I thought that leaving the hotel while it was still standing was hard, but I was wrong. Leaving with the feeling of never returning, that is a horrible feeling. No matter how many times I chanted to myself that this is only a bad dream, I don't wake up and see Norris, Laurence and even Leona at my bed whishing me a good evening. One look back or down at me, the reality hits me hard.
I tried to run away from this feeling, down the path Mavis and the others used.
The longer I distanced myself, the heavier the heart became in my chest. I wanted this pain to stop, no matter how it ends. As the lugs joined in on this, I collapsed to the floor, breaking out in tears, screaming, shouting out the pain...hoping to feel relief at some point. The only answer I got was the echo of my own voice, going through the woods, like the howling of wolves. I fell awfully alone.
Bling!
The sound was somehow strange, not expecting to get a message in such a situation. Wiping my tears away to see the letters more clearly, I read it slowly. It was from Anastasia, telling me of the incident that happened at their home, along with the good news that everyone will survive their injuries. Not really able to concentrate, I didn't even jump at the feeling of my phone ringing. I needed a minute to realize it, seeing an unknown number on the display. With trembling hands, I pressed the call button, raising it slowly towards my ear, "...yes?"
