"Are you having a nice time here?" Grandpa asks as I walk him to the room he'll be staying in.
I shrug my shoulders. "I mean, I guess it's alright. I miss home though," I sigh.
He pats my shoulder and smiles, "I think that home misses you too." After a while we reach his room, and I give him some alone time to get settled in and such. I walk back to my own room, and change into a pair of athletic shorts and a tee shirt.
I lay down on the couch and close my eyes, and after five minutes I hear the door slowly open. "Yoo Hoo, is anyone here?" Meghan calls out before walking in.
I stick my arm up in the air to show her that I am here. "I am trying to nap," I roll over so I faced the back of the couch. "I have had a longer day than wanted."
"Today wasn't any longer than yesterday," Meghan says as she sits on the end of the couch. "There's only 24 hours in a day."
I turn and look at her before saying, "someone smart told me there was only 23 and some odd minutes in a day. But who's counting?"
Rolling her eyes, she snaps, "c'mon smartie. You have to help me take some a paper work down to the interrogation room."
"Why?"
She hops off the couch. "Because it's a whole lotta paper work. And I'm sure telepathy will make the job easier."
~~~~~~~~
"To the left..... No the right..... Back to the left..... Up a little, through this doorway.... Goodness gracious don't drop it!"Meghan shrieks as a few papers fall from the top of the stack. Instead of picking up the endless piles of paper, we decided that I should use the wonders of my brain and move the papers with gravitation. Or whatever it's called.
Unfortunately the top of the stack grazed against the doorframe and some fell off, leaving Meghan to pick them back up. "How much longer?" I whine, earning a glare in return.
"Through this door, and then we'll be done," Meghan says as she turns the doorknob and we walk in to a stereotypical interrogation room. Sitting behind the glass is Tony and Bruce, with the Hydra guy who tried to choke me earlier. I turn my attention to everyone else who's in the room, which happens to be the rest of the Avengers, Fury, Coulson, Roy, Leo and Caleb. He's so cute... Wait...
Did I just think that?!
"Hi Zoë," the blonde smiles, and I nervously return the greeting.
"Hi Caleb. So what's going on?" I ask, sitting the papers down on a table. Caleb quickly scratches the back of his head before crossing his arms.
"Well right now Tony and Dr. Banner are throwing question after question at this guy, who's name is evidently John Garret. Apparently he used to work with S.H.I.E.L.D, but know he's head of Hydra and....." he stops talking mid-sentence and looks at me in a really weird way.
"What?" I snip. "Do I have something on my face? Because it's rude to stare." Instead of looking away or making a smart remark back, Caleb nudges Meghan and whispers something into her ear. Not five seconds later, her eyes widen as she looks at me.
"What are you two looking at?" I ask and start to turn around, but Meghan tells me to stay put.
"Don't move," she says, and I turn back around and look to see that everyone is now looking at me. "Zoë, what did that file say about your dad again?"
I sigh and try to recollect what the collection of papers said. "He was a S.H.I.E.L.D agent at one time, but now he's with Hydra.... his name is John and blah blah blah. Why?"
Meghan sighs and puts her hand across her face, like how people do when they're aggravated. I can here her mumble under her breath. "Aw frick," she groans.
I exhale in annoyance. "WHAT'S THE DEAL?"
~~~~~~~~|
\Meghan's POV/"WHAT'S THE DEAL?" Zoë says annoyed. "Did I not get the message or something?"
I want to slap myself for not seeing it earlier. I knew this guy looked familiar, but I didn't know how! But now as Zoë stood in front of him, I could see the resemblance. The same facial structure, eyes, and how their eyebrows would go up when they where trying to make a point.
"Don't scream," I say as calmly as I can before continuing. "But turn around and really look at this guy and tell me what you see."
She turns around and sighs, "I see a psychopath man with a bad hair do. Anything else?"
I see Natasha flinch as she says something in Russian that sounds like a curse word. She marches up to the window and pounds on it, getting the attention she wanted. "Did you come here for your kid Garret?" She yells, and after Thor pushes a few buttons on the control table we can hear the Laughs coming from the guy who's name we now know is John Garret.
"I didn't think that anyone would figure it out so quick," the Hydra guy says. "You all are so clever."
"AW FRICK!" Zoë screams as she turns invisible, leaving everyone to wonder if she left or if she's still in the room. "THIS ISNT HAPPENING!" She adds before she goes silent. Reappearing in front of the glass, Zoë slams her fist against it. "What do you want?!" She yells, not happy with the current situation.
John chuckles, but it sounds awfully terrifying. "What do I want? I want the world to bow at my feet. I want the human race to know what it is to live in fear, and to kill the thought that the Avengers and friends will come and save them whenever. When we found out that you little kids were going to be the next generation, out first thought was to get rid of all of you. But," he pauses before looking directly at the door that leads into this place. "We realized that you five would be much more helpful alive. So now, if you'll excuse me. I'm expecting company."
Steve steps forward and looks like he's about to kill someone. "What the heck does that mean you son of a-"
He didn't get to finish his sentence because the door was blow off its hinges. I screamed in surprise as a multitude of Hydra agents ran in. "We'll be taking only what we need. Grab the younger ones," John says before some sort of smoke started to fill the air, and I felt a pair of arms grab me.
"Let go!" I scream and head butt the guy holding me. He cries out and let's me go, and I try to run out the door. I inhale to much of the smoke though, and I feel exhausted. I cough before collapsing to the ground, and I see a pair of boots step in front of me.
"You think I would let you go that easily little girl?" John sneers before stepping on my hand, and I cry out in pain.
He lets out a unsettling laugh and someone picks me back up. I can't move my arms or legs, and before I pass out I hear someone say, "load 'em up in the vans before the actual Avengers wake up. Hydra just for its newest advantage."
'Aw frick' is the last thought that crosses my mind before everything goes black.
