Zoë's POV
Why am I cold? And why do I feel like I might puke at any moment...
I sit up from my position on the cold wet floor and look around at the room that resembles a cell. Am I dead? If I was dead I shouldn't hurt this much....
"Oh my gosh Zoë! Your awake!" I look over to see Meghan, who has a trickle of blood running down her face. "Are you alright?"
I feel my head spin as I turn around and puke up everything that was in my system. Coughing, I feel Meghan pull my hair back as I feel my stomach lurch forward and the nasty bile covers the corner of the room. Meghan sighs, "sorry, but that's disgusting. Better now?"
I spit and cough one more time. "I guess. What happened? Where are we?"
Placing a hand on the back of her neck, she answers, "I honestly have no idea. I woke up maybe a half hour ago, and I haven't seen the guys since... Well you know."
I nod and pull my knees up to my chin. "This is bogus. We need to form a plan of- of escape and- uh, and escape. And we need to-"
"Or," Meghan interrupts, "you could do that telepathic thing where you create a link with everyone and we could communicate with each other and get out of here faster." I give her a blank stare, "I saw it on TV once!" She justifies. "Just give it a try."
I slowly stand up and walk to the other end of the room, and when I get there I lean against the cold, hard wall. Anybody there, Roy? Leo? Caleb?
I wait for about a minute, then here a voice echo back.
Zoë? Is that you?
I quietly laugh to myself, of course Caleb would be the one to ask if it was me. No, it's Queen Elizabeth. Who else would it be smart one? Where are you guys?
I can hear the blond sigh, which is a bit weird, I'm not sure. It's like a jail cell, and Leo and Roy are in here too. Leo's been unconscious the entire time, and Roy's been trying to wake him up. There's a pause in his thoughts, then another sentence. Don't worry, I'll get you, and everyone else out of this.
I hear the echoing of footsteps come down the hall, Caleb, someone's coming, just listen for me-
I can't finish the comment because of the jolt of excessive electricity zapping me, knocking me senseless to the ground.
Caleb's POV
Caleb, someone's coming, just listen for me- suddenly Zoë's voice ceases and there is silence from the girl. Zoë? Zoë?
"What'd she say?" Roy asks from his sitting position on the floor, "how are we getting out?"
I wait for a moment more before sighing, "something happened. She didn't finish the conversation with me, and we didn't get a plan set out. Is Leo okay?"
Roy mumbles, "there's really no way of telling," and leans back. "We're not leaving anytime soon, unless we form a plan and get out of here. Cmon! Help me brainstorm!" He stands up and starts to pace across the room.
I pat my pockets in hopes that my phone or some kind of communication device is in one of them, then I remember that they took all of our belongings before dumping us in the cells. I try to think of a way out, but my brain is so scrambled and I'm dehydrated, making it hard to focus. After five minutes of total silence, I groan in anger, "I've got nothing. I-I-I can't think straight, and I'm paranoid."
Roy looks up and walks over to where I am. "You need to lay down before you pass out," he instructs before putting a have on my shoulder. "Then we can think of a plan that will work."
I hear the sound of stirring and then a groan, "I can't believe this," Leo slowly sits up. "Anyone else feel like they got stepped on by an elephant?"
"Other than that, are you feeling alright?" I ask. Leo nods, and lays back down, rambling inaudibly. "I know your head hurts, but we need to think of a way-" the door suddenly opens, and a guard tosses the limp bodies of the two girls on our team onto the floor before shutting the door again. Leo quickly stands up and lifts Meghan's head into his lap, while I do the same to Zoë. Both are paler than they should be, and it gives me a small scare.
Leo's voice trembles slightly as he points out, "what's around their neck?" I lift Zoë's raven hair off her neck to see a small, thin necklace of metal around her neck, lights flashing and three buttons across it.
"Whatever it is, don't touch it," Roy warns, looking at the foreign objects.
Leo then pipes up, "it's like a taser. What looks like the buttons is really more like what's on a dogs shock collar. When they wake up, don't let them touch their necks, and don't let them say anything, it might set the collar off. But," Leo gingerly moves his hand closer to the collar, "I might be able to disable it." He carefully touches it, only to be greeted with a zap from the collar.
"Well what do we do now?" I look up to Roy, who can only say what I wanted to steer clear of.
"Nothing. We're trapped."
