Get The Girl (9)

(This is a really short chapter but it didn't fit into the last chapter and I want there to be a small cliffhanger. I'm evil.... It's not as bad as the cliffhangers that I have planned though, so if you really hate this cliffhanger, toughen up soldier. Deal with it. Perk up buttercup. Also there is a ton of dialog in this chapter do it might be confusing, but it's just Ward and Garret talking the whole time. Love you guys! -fangirl9943😘)

Grant Ward pulled out of the McDonalds and began following Coulsen's van. Then the van dissipated out of sight on a back road that lead to nowhere. He pushed the 'talk' button on his ear piece.

"Ward to Garret. Do you read?"

The intercom blared across the Hydra head courters. The scratchy sound filled the room and John Garret smiled a thin smile.

"I read. Did you get the kid? Or talk to her? Please tell me that you didn't fail me Grant (Who is also Ward). Not after the last time."

Ward's sigh could be heard over the com. "They saw me. She ran away from me and I'm following them now."

"So you didn't even talk to her." Garret said with a monotone. "You didn't do the job Grant, that's a problem."

Ward cringed and turned on the road that the van he was following just turned on.

"I'm following them now. Their trying to lose me, but I put a tracker on the van while they were picking up the girl from her school. They didn't even notice me until now."

"Who did good ole Fury send to get the girl?" Questioned Garret.

Ward ground his teeth together.

"It's Coulsen. Along with his science geeks, Fizt and Simmons."

Ward could just picture the look on Garret's face. "You know what to do if they get in the way. Do it quietly so you don't bring attention to it. And if the girl sees you do it, just kidnap her against her will or something sinister like that. We need two kids if we want this to go the way we want it. You know we found the boy. He was quite agreeable to."

"You got him to agree?"

"Of course I did. We found him in Rhode Island and just talked. He agreed that people like S.H.I.E.L.D should be taken down. When he gets to the place S.H.I.E.L.D has in mind for him, he's going to get the rest of the kids to trust him. Then the plan will be in motion."

"I think this is the most brilliant idea you've had since the Clairvoyant John. You think it will really work though? What if-"

"Really Grant I don't know why you don't just trust me." Chuckled Garret. "Remember, get the girl. Or you're not going to be happy."

The com was then just static, inferring that Garret had stopped communication with Ward.

It's was simple. Ward had to get the girl, or Plan B. And Plan B wasn't the most reliable plan ever.
