So I was looking through this, and I officially hate this story. This was my first fanfiction, and I wrote it when I was in 7th grade, and it's awful. It makes me want to punch cats how poorly written it is. So thanks for reading it up to this point, I'm sorry you had to read awful TERRIBLE writing to get here.
Meghan's POV
"Caleb! Caleb," Zoë screams as her feet skid across the floor as we are once again put back behind bars, this time all in different rooms. She stops fighting and crumples to the floor, "no. N-n-not Caleb," she cries and I can hear her sobs, loud and depressing.
Roy calls out from his area, "stop crying. It won't help anyone, or anything."
"Leave her alone," Leo coughs, and then it's silent for what feels like hours on end. I lean against the cold wall, closing my eyes and trying to get comfortable. Too soon is another pain filled sound filling up the halls, and we all know the screaming is from pure torture. Zoë starts to whimper and softly sob, and mumbles words inaudibly.
After a while Caleb stops screaming, or we stop being able to hear it. The rooms turn dark as night, and a person is appointed to stand guard over the cells. Like we're going anywhere....
"You guys wanna hear a joke?" Leo sighs, and I chuckle. What a Leo thing to do.
"Shut up," the guard barks. N one says anything, and no one makes a noise.
Until a shuffling comes from where the guard is standing, a muffled holler is heard, then he slumps down in a heap on the floor. I perk up at the sound of keys jangling against a locked door, and someone says, "I would love to hear a joke!"
"Oh my gosh Clint it's you!" Roy says with relief, "are we-"
"Busting you guys out!" Clint giggles like a child, "this is so exciting!" Roy's door opens up, and soon all the doors are opened. "Where's Caleb?"
No one says anything. "We're not sure," Leo whispers. "He might be in one place, but they kept moving is around."
Clint nods and repeats what we've told him into his com. "C'mon then," the beckons, and we all start to follow him.
"We can't leave Caleb."
I turn around and see Zoë's red eyes looking back at me. "We can't leave him."
Clint sighs, "Natasha's looking for him now. But listen we have to leave rig-" a bullet whistles past his head and he can't finish his thought. "Follow me and run!" He instructs, and we so just that. We all run past the yelling directed at us to stop, and the bullets are no match for Zoë's force fields. Soon we run out of the building into a down pour of rain, and I can feel the cold water soak my skin immediately. It almost seemed liked we got out of there too easily.
A helicarrier sits and waits for us as Clint's runs in and motions for us to follow. Inside is Tony, Thor, and Bruce. "Where's everyone else?" I question.
"Inside the building," Tony replies as he taps away on a keyboard. "Widow, Cap- any luck?" He pauses and we can't hear the reply, then Tony presses his com, "we'll be ready."
We all receive blankets from Thor as he tells us to sit down. I sit and Leo positions himself beside me, our knees touching. We share a smile and Natasha and Steve come running in. Steve nods and the door shuts behind him.
"Where's Caleb?" Zoë says, her voice cracking. "Where is he?"
"Do it Tony," Natasha commands without looking at anyone, and she avoids Zoë's comment.
"Where is he?" Zoë repeats, and Steve kneels in front of her.
"We couldn't find him," he says gently, "but we found traces of blood." He stops and shakes his head gently. "Zoë we scammed it to see who's it was-"
"He might be in there!" She screams, eyes starting to form tears, "you have to go back! You have to-"
The helicarrier takes off as the building before us explodes into bright orange flames.
Zoë cries out and collapses, but before she hits the ground Steve catches her, "sometimes, we have to make sacrifices-"
He stops as her awful sobbing is the only sound we can hear.
Zoë's POV (very short)
"You killed him!" I scream, tears burning my eyes, "you killed him!" I feel the pure emotion of anger and hate take over.
Steve sighs, "we think he was dea-"
"You didn't even look for him!" I look up, my vision blurred by anger. "You let him die!" I slam my fists against Steves shoulders as he tries to comfort me. "He's dead because of you!" I cry and sob and takes shaky breathes, "you killed him!" I try to shove Steve away, but he keeps ahold of me as Bruce walks up with a syringe, and I know what they plan to do.
"I'm sorry," Bruce says as he poked my with the needle, "you'll wake up and everything will be fine."
I feel the drowsiness take over, "no it won't," I manage to say, "he's dead." I feel a hot tear run down my face as I slump to the floor. "You killed him," I whisper and my hysterical crying stops as I close my eyes.
