Zoë's POV
Complete and utter embarrassment. That was all I felt as I crashed through the door. I thought that it was latched all the way, but noooooo of course not. I stood up after falling to the floor and looked at all the people around the table.
"No WAY!!!!!!!!" I squealed. "You're the ACTUAL AVENGERS!!!!!"
"Nice observation." I looked around to see who had spoken.
"You're Ironman!" The dark haired man with the iconic facial hair just grinned. Tony Stark was sitting right in front of me. He was so close I could reach out and touch him, but that would be creepy.
"Thank you for the visit Zoë but we really need to continue with our meeting," Coulsen urged. He looked over at the man sitting next to Stark. "Captain if you could make sure Zoë makes it back to her room?"
WAIT WHAT?!?!?!?!?!?!? I watch in awe as the super solider stands up and looks me over. "Hhhh-hh-hhiiiiii," I manage to get out. "Hi." he replies.
I watch as he walks over to where I'm standing next to the door. "I'm Steve Rodgers," he sticks his hand out for me to shake. I reach out and shake his hand. "I know..." I awkwardly say. He raises an eyebrow and opens the door for me. I walk out and wait for him to catch up.
"So you're Zoë?" he asks.
"Yeah..." I say, still in awe of his presence.
He nods and begins walking towards the elevator. "What floor?"
"The 18th."
He presses the 'up' button on the elevator and we wait for the doors to open. I can't help but fangirl a little while we wait.
"What's it like being one of earths mightiest heroes?"
"It's hard work. You have to work at it." he says nonchalantly.
I nod vigorously and then the elevator door opens. We step inside and I press the '18' button. I know I'm just going to embarrass myself if I ask but I have to know. "Can I call you Captain?"
He chuckles yes and puts his hand in his jean pockets. Then he asked me a question. "So what's it like having super powers? I mean- invisibility and all that."
"Oh, it's- I don't know it's always been the normal for me." I know it's a lame reply but it's the truth.
Them the elevator door opens up to my floor. "It was nice meeting you!" I say a little to excited. "It was nice getting aquatinted." He replies.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~llamas~~~~~Zoë's POV
I was sitting in my room trying to take a nap while waiting for Simmons to come get me at 5 for whatever reason. I was laying there, drifting to sleep when I heard the voices of Ward in my head.
"You know Hydra will find me. They'll brig down S.H.I.E.L.D again and take down the Avengers. The world will live in fear and chaos..." He had said. "You're all so pathetic." he sneered.
Shaking my head trying to get rid of the memory I thought of another thing that someone had said.
"Does she know the truth about her parents?" Coulsen had asked my grandfather. I still didn't know what he had meant, but all I knew was that I had believed a lie, and I didn't know the truth. It bothered me that I didn't know what he had meant. I vowed to figure out the truth about my parents, when a knock at my door startled me. Walking out to the door I hollered, "Come in."
Simmons and Fitz poked their heads in and walked over to the table to sit. Simmons looked at me and asked, "Did you not want to change?"
I had forgotten about changing my clothes, I still had my Captain America shirt and jeans on from the previous day. "Give me a minute."
Simmons smiled even brighter when she said, "there's clothes for you in the drawer! Pick out the gray top and dark wash jeans!"
I nodded and closed the door to my room shutting everyone else out. I opened the drawer that Simmons was talking about, and about a dozen plain gray t-shirts laid in front of me. The drawer next to it had black shirts, and the third drawer had a combination on black and gray long sleeves.
"Colorful," I mumbled. I grabbed a gray t-shirt and opened the second set of drawers on the dresser. Dark wash jeans in the first, athletic tops and bottoms in the second, and jean capris and shorts in the last. Not much variety but who cares.
Changed into new clothes I walked back out. Simmons smiled-like always-
and Fitz just stood there. We walked out and took the elevator to the 10th floor.
"Any idea what all the floors are?" I questioned.
"Nah," Fitz said. "We aren't really associated with the Avengers. Just S.H.I.E.L.D."
I nodded when I felt a pull on my hair. "Hey!" I shrieked. Simmons was behind me putting my hair in a pony tail.
"Sorry! Your hair just was a bit, messy!" she giggled. I just smiled in return and turned my attention back to the front of the elevator. It opened up and Fizt pressed the button with a bright shiny 10 on it. "That's where we're going." Fizt said mostly to himself. Weirdo.
"So what floor are you guys on?" I asked, curious to know.
Simmons frowned and Fizt kinda just looked blank. Simmons looked at me again before telling me that they were leaving tomorrow morning. They were
with S.H.I.E.L.D, she said. Nothing to do with the Avengers.
"You'll get used to being here," said Fizt. "The new normal."
Pft. Yeah right. There was nothing normal about being here.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Don't say anything stupid."
"You just are full of advice aren't you Fizt?"
"You guys stop." Simmons gave us the evil eye before opening the door leading to a extremely nice dinning hall. There were three large tables in the room, and at the first table eight people were sitting and talking to another. Two of them I had known since the incident at school, the other six I knew from barging in on their meeting. Fury was looking at me with his one good eye. It seemed to say, I hate you, sit you're rear end down. Walking over I saw there was a empty seat next to Coulsen. Sitting down next to him I felt six pairs of eyes drilling holes into me. I looked up and the adults known as the Avengers all drifted their eyes to the floor. "Hi," was all I managed to get out.
"Hi," said a male voice. Looking up I saw it was the Captain, and I smiled knowing that he thought I was worth talking to. Then the real deal stared to unfold. "Alrighty people," Fury started. "I need to say a few things."
Shocking, he always seemed to have something to say.
"This is the girl who barged into the meeting earlier." He started. "Zoë this is Bruce, Tony, Clint, Natasha, Steve and Thor."
"I knew that." I said a little to bluntly.
Fury and Coulsen exchanged glances and Fury continued.
"From now on everyone will be here at 8AM, 1PM, and 5PM sharp. This will be the normal schedule until further notice. Zoë!" he barked. I looked at him. "You will be training with each of the adults at this table. They will act as mentors until you have met my standers. Understood?"
I nodded and he smiled ever so faintly. "Great. Now we can eat dinner." A series of people dressed in white all came out with plates of food, sitting a platter in front of everyone. "I could get used to this," I whispered to myself.
"Welcome to the new." said Coulsen. "But just letting you know now, it'll get harder."
I nodded. I was ready for anything.
