The family gathered in the living room, the atmosphere warm and filled with anticipation as the upcoming festival of Karwa Chauth approached.
Decorations were being discussed, and everyone was in high spirits. However, a brewing argument between Manik and Nandini soon grabbed everyone's attention.
"Nandini, you can't keep the fast this year. It's not safe for you or the baby," Manik said, his tone firm but filled with concern.
Nandini crossed her arms, her expression equally determined. "Manik, I've done this every year. It's important to me."
Manik sighed, frustration evident in his eyes. "I understand, but your health and the baby's health are more important. Fasting for an entire day isn't safe right now."
Nandini shook her head, not backing down. "It's just one day, Manik. I'll be careful."
The family watched in disbelief as the cute banter escalated. Dadi, Neyonika, Cabir, and the rest of Fab 5 exchanged glances, unsure whether to intervene or stay out of it.
Manik ran a hand through his hair, exasperated. "Nandini, you're being stubborn. This isn't just about tradition; it's about your well-being."
"And you're being overprotective!" Nandini shot back. "I know my limits, and I promise I'll be fine."
Manik took a deep breath, trying to stay calm. "If you insist on doing it, then I'll fast too."
The room fell silent at his words, everyone staring at him in shock. Nandini's eyes widened. "Manik, you don't have to do that. It's difficult, and you've never done it before."
Dadi smiled, her eyes twinkling with fond memories. "You know, your grandfather used to keep the fast for me too. It's a beautiful gesture."
Manik nodded, his resolve unwavering. "If you want to do this, then we'll do it together."
With that, he turned and left from, heading towards their bedroom. Nandini followed him, her mind racing with conflicting emotions.
Nandini entered the bedroom to find Manik sitting on the edge of the bed, his head in his hands. She approached him slowly, her heart heavy with concern.
"Manik," she began softly, "Youu don't have to do this. Fasting for an entire day will be hard for you."
Manik looked up, his eyes meeting hers with determination. "And it's hard for you too, Nandini. That's exactly why you shouldn't do it. But if you insist, then I'm doing it with you."
Nandini sat beside him, placing a hand on his arm. "I appreciate that you want to support me, but this is a tradition I hold. I want to keep the fast."
Manik sighed, his expression softening. "I know it's important to you, but your health and the baby's health are more important to me. I don't want to risk anything."
Nandini felt a pang of guilt, understanding his concern but still feeling torn. "I promise to be careful. I'll drink water and take small breaks if I need to."
Manik shook his head. "It's not just about being careful, Nandini. I can't stand the thought of you going through this alone. So, if you're going to do it, I'm doing it with you."
Nandini's eyes filled with tears, touched by his commitment. "Thank you, Manik. For understanding and for supporting me."
The clock struck early in the morning as Nandini quietly got up, preparing for the Karwa Chauth fast. She moved through the room silently, not wanting to wake Manik.
