UNKNOWN OFFICE LOBBY - DAY
Kanzaki paces restlessly in the lobby of some company. It is a vast, marble-walled space that would cost a small fortune to heat and cool throughout the year. He dons a suit and tie, relics of a life long past. His phone rings. It's a video call.
KANZAKI: "S-Sam...?"
SAMARA: "Guess where I am, 'zaki!"
Kanzaki sighs. It is clearly 'too early for this shit.'
KANZAKI: "Where? Sam, I'm about to head into a meeting."
SAMARA: "I thought you don't do that boring corporate stuff anymore."
KANZAKI: "I'm trying to get some sponsors for my streams. Please make it quick."
Sam is seen on the video call in front of Hokien Media Group's building sign. She is in their lobby and seems thrilled to be there.
SAMARA (over video call): "Told you I had an interview!"
Kanzaki rubs his eyes.
KANZAKI: "Then why were you acting all sus last night while I was asking you questions?"
Sam hesitates out of embarrassment.
SAMARA (over video call): "I uh... don't handle.... confrontation well...?"
KANZAKI (looking at his watch): "10 minutes until showtime. Feel free to bother me AFTER you get the job."
SAMARA (over video call): "Oh, I will!"
Kanzaki hangs up. Samara cracks a self-righteous grin.
HOKIEN MEDIA GROUP HR OFFICE - DAY
It's Samara's moment of truth. She is seated in a chair in the RECRUITER's office. The interview has since begun.
SAMARA: "So the greatest obstacle I ever encountered was the admissions process for Ivy University..."
The Recruiter looks through Samara's resume. He doesn't seem too impressed with her answer.
RECRUITER: "Admissions? Your greatest hurdle in life was in High School? That was 8 years ago, it seems..."
SAMARA: "W...well, that's just a testament to how grueling it was! It was many hours of test prep courses and many retakes of the admissions test."
Samara closes her eyes to recollect.
SAMARA: "A lot of the people I attended prep school with got burned out and gave up. But I stuck it out until the end, and I'll bring the same resilience to the HMG team if I am hired!"
The Recruiter chews on Samara's words for a moment. He doesn't seem entirely sold on her answer.
RECRUITER: "Hm.. okay."
The Recruiter jots something down on the physical copy of Sam's resume.
RECRUITER: "And the rest of this interview will consist of self-identifying information."
