Viserys receives some unexpected news. The Velaryons arrive in Kings Landing. I hope you guys like it 🥰

The next day.

Viserys finished chewing his eggs before giving him a curious look. "Do you have any plans for the day?"

"Nothing that can't be changed." Daemon had been surprised when a servant had appeared in his chambers telling him the king wished for him to join him for the morning meal. He had returned to the Red Keep very early that morning and had been lucky enough not to be seen. As far as he was aware no one knew he had left the capital and traveled to the Vale. "I was thinking I would check the gold cloaks and make sure things are working properly."

"As far as I know things are going very well." Viserys's wish to spend time with him was confusing Daemon. He was not sure why his brother wanted to see him all of a sudden and he did not trust it. His brother seemed oblivious to his silence."I have been told Harwin Strong has been doing an excellent job and he is very thankful that you chose him to lead the gold cloaks while you were away."

Daemon took a sip of his water and nodded his head. "Strong is a good man and a good knight, I never doubted he would do an excellent job."

Viserys nodded and took another bite of his food, staring at Daemon while he chewed. Daemon could tell his brother had something in his mind and it was something he would not be happy about.

"I have been thinking about your marriage." Daemon's whole body became still, but he did not say anything, justcontinued to look at his brother. "I think you and your wife should try a bit harder to work on your marriage."

He tried to keep his composure. "And how do you propose we do that?"

His brother simply smiled. "I will invite Rhea to come to Kings Landing."

Daemon wanted to hit Viserys, wanted to shake him, and make him understand that he and Rhea would never be happy together. He still did not know what had made his grandmother believe he and Rhea would be well-suited. Another thing that confused him was the reason why Viserys insisted on forcing him to stay married to Rhea knowing how much they dislike each other. Sometimes, he wondered if his brother just enjoyed seeing him suffer.

While Daemon knew that Rhea would not be going anywhere since she was dead, he could not act calm and collected. He knew that his brother would become suspicious if Daemon simply accepted his decision.

"Why would you want to bring her here?" Now was the time to try and get some answers. "Why do you insist on keeping us together knowing that we can't stand each other? It is not just me who hates her, she does not like me either. So I want to know what you get from keeping something together that should have never been joined in the first place?"

"Daemon, your marriage was put in place by our grandmother, it was a way of bringing the Vale closer to the crown."

"The Vale was already close to the crown by your marriage to Aemma." He was tired of his brother hurting him and hewanted to hurt Viserys. "Of course, that was before you cut her open for a child who did not live for long and then married the daughter of a second son not even a year after her death."

Viserys's face had become red and he glared at him. "How dare you?"

"How dare I what? Speak the truth?" Viserys had never liked when people pointed out his mistakes. "You know very well that the Vale has not been very happy with you since what happened to Aemma and you married Alicent. The only thing keeping the Vale from openly defying you is Rhaenyra."
