Rhaenyra makes a move and wins. Daemon gives Rhaenyra a lot of important ideas. I hope you guys like it 🥰

The next day.

"My daughter will be attending council meetings from now on, as the heir and the future queen she will have a seat." Her father looked at the other lords present, not giving them a lot of time to answer. "Lord Lyonel will be taking some time for himself due to the death of his youngest son, we will need to find someone who can take over his duties in the meantime."

Rhaenyra saw Otto was about to say something and interrupted him. "Why not assign the position to Prince Daemon, hehas experience as Master of Laws."

Otto scuffed. "With all due respect, princess..."

Rhaenyra interrupted him once more, letting him know she was not the stupid child he believed. "Phrases that start that way do not usually come out as respectful. How about you tell me the reason why Prince Daemon will not be a good master of Laws?"

Otto glared at her but made sure to keep his voice polite. "We all know what happened the last time he was in that position."

"Actually, I do not know." She would not allow him to get out explaining things so easily, she would not be weak like her father. "Tell me, what exactly did he do that was so awful?"

Otto's eye twitched and Rhaenyra had to hide her smile. "He was a tyrant."

"Yes, I have heard you say that before, but that still does not answer my question." While her father might allow Otto to get away with making accusations without any proof, she would require some. "What exactly did he do that made him a tyrant?"

"Have you forgotten what happened the night before the Heir's Tournament?" He was trying not to sound angry, but his frustration was bleeding through. "All the atrocities he committed that night?"

"He was not the Master of Laws then, he was commander of the city watch. As I understand the city was being overflown, with thieves, rapists, and other criminals, all of which Daemon had the gold cloaks watching. Several people, including some of the lords who attended the tournament, thanked him for making the city safer and stated they felt more secure while walking around the streets." She gave the hand a bright smile. "All citizens should feel safe when walking in our city, should they not?"

"I did not know that." Her father said, his expression a bit surprised. "But it is true that crime went down after that incident."

"Yes, it did." Rhaenyra agreed, she was very proud of her uncle's accomplishments, even while her father did not seem to recognize them. Daemon's methods might be a bit radical sometimes, but they provided results. "We also have to keep in mind that Daemon took the city watch and made it into one of the fiercest forces in the seven kingdoms. Before, it felt like a duty to be chosen as a gold cloak, now highborn sons from all over the kingdom considered it an honor and send ravens daily requesting to be in it."

Otto's face had become red, especially when he saw the pensive look on the king's face. "That is not the point, princess."

"No, it is not." She would not give in. "The point was that I asked you what made Prince Daemon such a bad master of laws and you still have not answered."

Otto was sweating a bit as everyone turned to look at him with questioning looks on his face. "He was too harsh in his punishments."

"No, he was not." She had spent a long time reading, wanting to be prepared for this meeting, so she would not be lookedat like a silly child who had no idea what she was talking about. "He imposed the punishments stipended by the law, laws that were put in place by King Jaehaerys. He did not do anything less or more, but follow the letter of the law and I think he did a good job since most of the common folk in Kings Landing loved him. Or do you claim to know better than half a million people? Are we to assume that you are right and thousands of people are wrong."
