Chapter 56

Helaena and Jaehaerys talk about her wedding. Visenya makes a discovery and Viserys is left a bit confused about what happened. I hope you guys like it 🥰

3 weeks later.

Helaena hurried down the halls, she was late for her gown fitting. She and her mother had been running for the past three weeks trying to get everything ready for the wedding. It was a good thing they had decided to have a quick wedding, thatway none of the lords would have to return to their homes and then return to the capital once more. She was near her mother's chambers when she came across Jaehaerys, who was sitting on a bench with a sad look on his face.

"Jaehaerys?" Helaena approached her little bother carefully and gave him a concerned look. "Is something the matter?"

He crossed his arms over his chest, but the sad look remained. "No, I am fine."

She looked down the hall, knowing that her mother would not be happy if she was extremely late, but she did not like to see her brother so sad. She sat beside him. "You are not fine, I can tell you are upset. You usually speak to me about what upsets you."

"Why would I bother?" Jaehaerys gave her an annoyed look. "It is not like you will be here for much longer."

She was a little taken aback by the tone of his voice. "You are upset because I am getting married?"

"It is not just that you are getting married," He glared at her, upset that she did not seem to understand why he was upset."You are leaving, going to the North with your husband, and will abandon me."

She was not sure what to say, Jaehaerys had always been the closest one to her. He was always chasing after her and worshiped the ground she walked on. While she had been aware of his affections, she had not realized he would feel abandoned.

"I am not abandoning you."

"Yes, you are." He crossed his arms over his chest and pouted. "You are leaving and I will stay here."

She sometimes forgot that he was an impressionable little boy. "I am in love Jaehaerys and I want to form my own family, but that does not mean that I love you any less or that you are not my family."

He gave her a questioning look. "Then why do you need another family?"

"Because that is the way life is, I can't stay here forever."

"Why not? Mama and papa would not care if you stayed with us."

"Yes, but then I would be alone."

Jaehaerys looked a bit confused. "You would have us."

"It will not be the same." She ran a hand over his hair. "One day you will all grow, fall in love, and have your own families, and our parents will be busy running the kingdom."

"I will not fall in love, I will stay with you."

She smiled and kissed the side of his head, she loved how adorable and sweet her little brother was. "You say that now, but you will fall in love one day with a wonderful woman."

Jaehaerys gave her a sad look. "I do not want you to leave."

"I will not stay away forever, I will come to see all of you." She kissed the top of his head, but he did not seem to feel any better. "Maybe in a couple of years you can come to Winterfell and foster under Cregan, that way you will be with me for a little while."
