"I dunno. Most people tend to think of gardens as something to enjoy in the bright light of day, right? However, to me, Moon Gardens are more captivating. Moon gardens invite us to stand in awe of nature's beauty once the sun has set. And these enchanting spaces are filled with buds that reflect the glow of the moon; silver-and-white foliage twinkle under the stars as fragrant night-blooming blossoms break open, revealing an intrigued scent that can only be experienced from twilight to dawn. This place is magical," Taehyung smiled and closed his eyes as he took a deep breath.

"You know, you really sound like her," Jungkook mumbled as he bit his lower lip.

"Her? What do you mean by 'her'?" The omega opened his eyes and frowned, his heart was beating so fast all of sudden.

Taehyung stared at Jungkook's extremely handsome face as he tried to read the alpha's mind. The young man smiled warmly yet wryly and his eyes gazed to the sky with nostalgia.

Oh, no. Taehyung swallowed his saliva as he felt his throat was dry and suffocated. He felt his stomach turn queasy, "I'm guessing- I-is she your ex-girlfriend?" He squeaked.

Jungkook giggled, "What ex-girlfriend? No... It's my Mom. I'm talking about Mom. You sound like her, Love," The alpha chuckled as he cupped his jaw with one of his palms and softly caressed his chin.

"Oh. Sorry for assuming. I thought you had a girlfriend before and-" Taehyung's cheeks are flaming.

"It's fine.. I mean, you can't call me a nerd one, but honestly I have never been in a relationship in my life."

"No way. Really?" The omega was taken aback.

"Really. I have no ex-girlfriend or ex-boyfriend. Besides, I was thinking that it would be better for me to wait for my mate to do all the date stuff. I mean, I'd rather learn and practice this and that and prepare myself for a better future. So yeah," Jungkook shrugged.

"What a wise decision you've made, Mr. Jeon," Taehyung retorted as they both laughed a little.

"Anyways, my late mother loved flowers that bloom at night, especially Moonflower. And what was it called, those flowers over there?" Jungkook pointed to the flowers in the garden to his right, "Are those 'Princess of the Night'? 'Queen of the Night'?"

"Epiphyllum oxypetalum? Uh-huh, it's called 'Princess of the Night' or 'Queen of the Night'," Taehyung nodded.

"Yeah, that one. Mom loved it the most. And Moonflower too, of course. So Dad asked for my mother's favorite flowers to be planted here in memory of her."

"I'm so sorry..." The omega caressed his alpha's cheek gently and tenderly.

"Please don't be," The alpha smiled. He brought Tahyung's palm close to his lush lips only to kiss it.

Jungkook looked at his Omega, mesmerized by his mesmerizing face that looked so divine bathed in the moonlight.

"I wish I had the chance to get to know her though. You must have missed her so much..."

"I miss her everyday..." Jungkook sighed, "Actually, she has some similarities with you," He forced a smile after a pregnant pause.

"Really?" Taehyung widened his foxy eyes, "Then please tell me more about her, Alpha."

"Well, when she was alive, we often spent ample time cultivating a colorful garden that bloomed in the daylight. And she often taught me that there's a whole category of night-blooming flowers that come alive once twilight sets in. I remember her words, 'Kookie, think about silvery-white foliage that catches the moonlight and blooms that are tucked away until the moon sits high in the sky. If you want to add a touch of enchanting mystery to your garden, just like your momma, consider planting these expert-recommended flowers that bloom at night,'" Jungkook mimicking his late mother and said it with a high-pitched voice as he chuckled bitterly.

"She sounds like a very interesting and fun person," The brunette omega muttered.

"She was," The alpha nodded.

"And it seems like these charming, night-blooming flowers filled your garden with some midnight magic and her sweet memories."

"Yeah. Apparently her midnight magic memories filled my heart too," Jungkook said softly, "Mom was- Actually, she was lead floral designer for The Bouqs Co., a flower arranging and delivery service. She was lead designer and CFO for Peachtree Plants, an interior and patio plantscaping company. And she was co-owner of House of Lilac, a flower arranging and delivery service."

"Whoa, what a busy mom she was. A housewife, a flower expert, a business woman and all??"

"Yea, she was..." Jungkook smiled and tilted his head.

"Wow, she was so remarkable. Definitely a legend," Taehyung amazed with her life achievements.

"Uh-huh, that was her," The raven-head chuckled, "Mom has a gentle soul. And this world didn't deserve her and her magic," He sighed, "Taehyung, My father was indeed a royal, true blood Alpha, but my mother was a little different. She... She beats her own drum, you know?"

"What are you talking about, Alpha? What are you trying to tell me?" Taehyung frowned.

"Uhm, I shouldn't just tell anyone about her. But since I think you're my mate now, I suppose it's fine."

"What is it?" The brunette now was really curious.

"Tae, she wasn't beta or omega let alone alpha.. My Mom was a human."

"Wait, what? I'm confused-"

"You heard me," Jungkook cleared his throat, "She's a witch to be exact."

"What?" Taehyung squealed, "How-"

"And that's what got her killed."

"Y-your mother was murdered?" The omega was in immense shock. He never thought he would hear something so horrible happen to Jungkook.

"Sshh, lower your voice, Honey. It's okay. It was a long story. I'll tell you everything later-"

Taehyung widened his eyes in disbelief, "But, it's not okay. Why did she get killed? Why did it happen to your mother? Was it because she was just a human a-and, and a witch?" He whispered and stuttered.

"Well, more or less. It has something to do with that. But you don't have to be afraid, Love. As long as I'm alive, I will protect you from all the evil out there. I promise," Jungkook's trying to convince his mate.

For a moment, Tahyung was pensive. There is something bothering his mind about Jungkook and his late mother.

The Omega clearly looked scared and worried. Would being Jungkook's mate put his life in danger?

"Love, is everything okay? You looked scared," Jungkook tucked Taehyung's hair behind his ear just to gently caress the omega's cheek.

"I, uh, I don't-, I'm not scared. I'm fine," The omega gave the alpha his white lie for good, "I'm just puzzled and baffled, that's all."

"I didn't mean to scare you. Look, you don't have to be afraid. I promise I'll tell you more about her later, okay? What mattered now is us. And don't worry. I got you, there's nothing to be afraid of," He said as he kissed his knuckle tenderly.

"I was still a teenager when my mother passed away," Jungkook continued, "And I couldn't protect her back then. But it's a different story now. You're my mate and I won't let anything bad happen to you. I'm a well-trained alpha. I wouldn't let anyone do no harm to you. I promise. Don't you worry about that," He's trying to convince him.

Taehyung's listening as he bit his bottom lip.

"Besides, we have so many plans ahead. And I won't burden you with my past or the dark side of my family. Let's just focus on your health, okay?" The alpha looked at him in the eye as the omega nodded and forced a smile.
