Girl Afraid (Dustin Henderson x reader)

Chapter 1

Y/n POV

Well, this summer hasn't been so bad. Dustin went to summer camp which is wonderful. I don't have to deal with him for pretty much half of the summer. We haven't talked after the dance but it's because I don't want to.

Hopper actually lets El go out and she is allowed to hang out with us. Just not in public. Mike has been over to there house like everyday. I think all they do is make up. But it doesn't bother me.

Max and Lucas they are like on and off. Lucas does something to make Max mad and they break up. It's a whole thing. But they are cute together.

Oh, and Jace. We're not together but we do hang out a lot. He is a really good kisser. It's weird because sometimes I want to get with him and then I think about Dustin and it's this whole thing.

Right now we were walking around the mall before the rest of our group would be at the movies. I had a drink in my hand and we were walking to random stores.

"Hey, look at this" Jace said as he walked to a window and it was a really ugly hat.

"That's hideous" I said to him as I took a sip of my soda.

"Darn. I would have bought it." He said with a smile as he grabbed my hand and kissed the side of my head.

Jace and I mostly used eachother for company. We haven't went farther than just making out. He wants to date but I'm not ready for that just yet.

"So when is he coming back?" Jace asked, I looked up at him.

"Who?" I asked him.

"Dustin. When is he coming back?" Jace asked. I could see him tense up. I know Jace didn't like Dustin at all. Jace thought Dustin was an asshole for treating me the way he did.

"Ummm tomorrow I think. We're gonna throw a surprise thing for him" I mumbled as I looked at the ground. I felt Jaces hand tighten on my arm.

"Just be careful. You know I don't like you around him" Jace said through gritted teeth.

"What?" I asked him as I let out a small laugh. "He is my friend and he hangs out with my brother of course im going to hang out with him" I said with an easy laugh.

Jace grabbed my arm and pulled me into an empty corner.  He pushed me towards a wall to wear his body was shielding me from the rest of the mall.

"Jace, what are you doing?" I asked him as I tried to pull away from him. He was scaring me and I didn't like it.

"Stay the fuck away from him" Jace said as he theme on to my arm really hard, to the point where tears formed in my eyes.

"Jace, stop" I whimpered out as I tried to pull away from him.

"You're mine Y/n. And if I see you talking to him you're dead" Jace said through gritted teeth. "Do you understand?" He asked me. When I didn't answer he did the one thing I didn't think he would ever do.

He slapped me hard across the face. I gasped as I held my right cheek in pain. Tears swelled up in my eyes as I stared back at him. Something was different about him. This wasn't the same Jace I knew.

"Mhm" I hummed as he pulled me out of the corner. I wiped my tears quickly and let go of my face before anyone could ask what was going on.

"You tell anyone about this and I will hurt you. Okay?" Jace asked with a smile. I looked up at him and nodded. I was scared but I couldn't tell anyone. No one would believe me. "Now, have a nice time at the movie" Jace said as he forcefully kissed me on the lips before walking away.

I watched him walk away and I looked around. No one was looking at me but I could feel people staring. I let out a small sigh and went to the only place I knew to go. Scoops Ahoy.

I walked in and I saw Steve serving a customer. It was two highschool girls and he was definitely hardcore flirting. I tapped my foot on the ground and trying to steady my breath from what the fuck just had happened.

When both of the girls left as they whispered to eachother and Steve's disappointed face I could tell that it didn't go as planned.

"Hey, shouldn't you be with Jace? Your way to early for the movie" Steve said as he looked at his watch and then back at me. "What happened to your cheek?" Steve asked as he leaned over the counter to get a better look.

"There was a bug and I slapped myself in the face because I felt in on my cheek" I said quickly with a forced smile. "You know, typically me. Doesn't think things through" I said as I scratched my arm to calm myself down.

"Yeah..." Steve said as he gave me a hard look. I know he didn't believe but I prayed he wouldn't ask anymore questions. "How is things going with Dustin?" He asked, I was glad he changed the subject but not to this one.

"Same. I haven't talked to him since Snow ball" I mumbled as I leaned on the counter.

"Why?" Steve asked as he looked behind me. I looked behind me and I saw there was more customers and I moved out of the way. I went to the back so I continue talking to him.

"Because he danced with other girls instead of me." I mumbled as I thought back to what happened that night.

"Welcome to Scoops Ahoy, how can I help you?" Steve asked, he held up a finger to me saying he would get back to our conversation.

"Hi, can I have a cone of strawberry ice cream and a cone of chocolate please" The mom said, and then she looked at her daughter with cute blonde pigtails who smiled at her mom.

"Sure you can" Steve said with a smile as he handed them their ice cream. "That will be 5.54" Steve said, the mom gave him the money and left. "Okay, so he danced with another girl and you gave him the silent treatment?" Steve asked as he turned around and leaned on the counter to face me.

"You don't get it. He kissed me multiple times and then started to like Max, then kissed me again and then danced with my sister. It's like a pattern" I groaned as I lightly banged my head on the wall.

"Hey, it's gonna be okay. Besides you got the Jace kid" Steve said as he shrugged his shoulders.

"No. I want Dustin" I mumbled. I couldn't believe I said it out loud. I kept telling myself I didn't need Dustin, but now I just admitted it.

"Then, when he gets back, tell him how you feel" Steve said with a smile.

"Yeah, sure" I said a so thought about how Jace would react. "Shit, I gotta go. I'll see you in like ten" I said as I sprinted off to the exit of the Mall to meet up with the others.
