"You find something to wrap your noose around. And there's nothing like a mad woman."

Mad Woman - Taylor Swift

After Bellamy and I made up, if that's what you want to call it, he had to rush back out of camp to check on the foxholes and landmines. The intensity of our earlier confrontation was still fresh in my mind, but the tender moments that followed lingered even stronger.

A small, almost involuntary smile swept across my face as I replayed Bellamy's confessions in my head. His words echoed with a sincerity that sent shivers down my spine, and knowing that he only had eyes for me filled my heart with a warmth I hadn't felt in a long time.

I quickly slipped my pants back on, the fabric feeling cool against my still-flushed skin. With slightly trembling hands, I bent down to tie my boots, Bellamy's touch still lingering on my skin. I combed through my hair with my fingers, trying to regain some form of composure before stepping out of his tent.

The air outside was crisp, carrying the scent of pine and earth, a stark contrast to the intensity from inside his tent. As I made my way back towards the camp walls, I spotted Octavia coming towards me with her usual brisk pace. Her eyes immediately zeroed in on me, and a mischievous grin spread across her face.

"Someone's got a skip in her step again." Octavia taunted, her voice dripping with playful sarcasm. I rolled my eyes at her remark, unable to suppress the smile tugging at my lips. I opened my mouth to explain, to tell her about the past events, but she was quick to cut me off, raising her hand in a swift gesture.

"Nope, don't even start. I don't want an explanation. The look on your face is sickening enough." She spoke quickly, her words laced with mock disgust. I couldn't help but laugh at her remark, the sound was light and freeing. Octavia's stern expression melted into a smile, and we shared a moment of unspoken understanding.

"Yep, that's probably for the better." I shrugged, feeling a wave of relief wash over me as Octavia scrunched her nose up.

"So, how are the landmines going?" I asked, shifting the conversation to safer ground.

"Raven just sent me to get more gunpowder for the landmines, but I completely forgot where she keeps it." Octavia admitted, a hint of frustration in her voice.

"Oh, it's in the dropship. But don't worry, I can go grab it for you." I offered, eager to help and maybe have a moment to collect my thoughts. Octavia's expression softened with gratitude as she thanked me before turning to head back outside the camp.

Once I made my way into the dropship, I couldn't help but notice the eerie silence that had settled over the place. I walked past the last sick boy who was still suffering from the virus, the boy's laboured breaths were the only indication of life in the drop ship.
