BELLAMYS POV

As I hung there, each breath more laborious than the last, I watched Lucinda slip further away from me. The noose around my neck wasn't just strangling my life, it was choking off every unspoken word, every unsaid confession, every missed opportunity to tell her how much she meant to me. I could feel the coarse fibres digging into my skin, each second a relentless reminder of my impending end.

As her eyes met mine one final time, I knew that the look she gave me would haunt me forever. It was a look that pleaded for life, begged for me to do something, anything. Her eyes, once filled with hope and determination, were now wide with terror, reflecting my helplessness. But there I hung, dying, unable to save her.

My last sombre thoughts were interrupted by the sound of the drop ship door opening. My body wanted to scream, to cry out, to do anything in my power to draw their attention. But the noose trapped all my urges away, reducing me to a silent witness of our doom. My eyes widened as Octavia and Miller were the first through the doors. With every ounce in my body, my eyes pointed to Lucinda before my voice let out one last rasp.

"Lucinda." I managed to get out, barely audible. But from the desperation etched across my face, they knew exactly what I meant. If they didn't do everything in their power to save Lucinda in that instant, I would never forgive them.

Octavia moved with a swift, deadly precision, pulling a knife from her pocket. In one fluid motion, she sliced through the noose around Lucinda's neck, and her limp body fell towards the floor. Miller was there, catching her before she hit the ground. His face was a mask of determination, but I saw the flicker of fear in his eyes.

As Octavia rushed to cut me down, my eyes remained glued to Lucinda. I fought to ward off the encroaching darkness that threatened to steal my vision, but it was no use. The world around me blurred, and suddenly, I dropped towards the floor. Octavia tried to soften my landing by holding up my arms, her touch a faint sensation as my consciousness ebbed.

I gasped for breath, each inhalation was beyond painful as I tried to regain my composure. Octavia's face appeared in my vision, her eyes wide with concern as she tried to calm me down. Her hands gripped my shoulders, grounding me in the moment. My chest heaved as my lungs hungrily sucked in air, but I pushed her aside. I had to get to Lucinda.

With all the strength I could muster, I moved myself beside Lucinda's motionless body. Miller was holding her wrist, checking for a pulse, his expression grim. But I couldn't give up that easily. Desperation drove me as I began pumping her chest, probably too forcefully, but I needed her back. I was ready to do anything I could.
