You chose to throw Rafe overboard without making it obvious!
You figured that there was no way in hell that Rafe would allow you to pick up the others, so you would find a way to get him off the boat. Of course, you settled on throwing him overboard.
As you assisted Rafe in prepping the boat, you found the opportunity to carry out your plan when you got ready to loosen up the rope that tied the boat to the dock.
"Hey, umm, I- I can't get it," you announce.
"What?" he yells back.
"I need some help," you requested.
He, then, made his way down to you and managed to untie the rope with ease. However, before he could react, you quickly got directly behind him and pushed him into the water.
You knew there was no time to waste, now. You had to get out of there before Rafe resurfaced.
Fast on your feet, you headed up to the wheel, turned the key to start the engine, and left.
From this point, things were smooth sailing. You contacted your friends, found them with ease, and were about to leave this island. You had gotten this far, and, then, John B ran off.
You knew there was something going on because of how quickly and easily it set him off, and, yet, you knew you could not wait for him to come back. You had to leave. Which, you did.
You left behind the island and John B as you head toward the longest journey home.
Hours upon hours go by until you were finally able to see the shoreline of Outer Banks.
Home.
At last.
After docking up the boat, you all split ways to head home.
Reaching your place, you knelt down in front of the mat and flipped it over to reveal the house key. Putting the key in the lock and turning it, you open the door and immediately notice the huge pile of mail on the kitchen island.
"What?" you said in confusion, knowing this mail did not get on the island by itself.
Walking toward the island, you proceed to, also, notice that some of the mail has been opened. You grabbed one of the opened ones and see that it was one of many bills.
Heading toward your room, you discovered more things that were not there before.
For starters, there was a glass vase filled with water and beautiful, deep red tulips on your nightstand. From the look of their color, they were fresh and recently picked without a doubt. Beside the vase, was your phone, charging on its cord. Then, finally, behind the vase laid a journal accompanied by a pen. More specifically, your journal accompanied by the pen you use.
Usually, you put the journal in the drawer compartment of the nightstand, so you could clearly tell someone got their hands on it.
You walked over, picked up the journal, and sat down on the edge of your bed to see if there were any clues in it that would help you figure out who was here.
As you skim through the pages, passing by written entries you wrote, you paused when you noticed there was a page in here that had someone else's handwriting written in it. Curious of its contents, you started to read.
Dear y/n,
I don't know when I'll be able to see you again, so I figured to do this in writing.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry for making things complicated. I'm sorry you had to be the one to defend me when I really did not deserve it. And I'm sorry for making you feel like you had to choose.
