"the look of love, the rush
of blood."
NO.1 PARTY ANTHEM, arctic monkeys.

CASSIE WAS STOOD BY the christmas tree in her and arts living room, her son archie on her hip,
twisting a piece of cassies hair in his hand.

cassie grabbed an ornament out of the decorations box that sat on the couch, taking out one with a small ring printed on it.

"you know," she spoke, kissing archies temple, "daddy gave me this, then he asked me to marry him?" she smiled.

archie held the ornament in his hand as cassie walked him over to the tree, tapping a branch with her fingers as the two year old hung it on the tree.

cassies phone rung in her pocket, distrupting her playlist that sung quietly through the living room. cassie smiled, pressing the phone to her ear.

"hi baby, is dahl almost done?" she spoke into the phone, archie sat on her hip playing with an ornament, right now, dahlia is at her dance recital for her performance in a few days, art had driven her there.

"yeah," he says, "thirty minutes left in think. I'm just getting the last few christmas presents, have you guys had dinner?"

"no, archie wont eat without you there." she laughs quietly, moving away from the tree to sit on the couch.

"i can get pizza or something on the way home?" he asks.

"pizza it is." she smiles, "okay, i'll be home soon, i love you."

cassie hands the phone to archie, sat in her lap, "say bye to daddy." she smiles. the boy just yells 'love you!' down the phone as art lets out a small laugh, hanging up.

cassie sits on the couch with her two year old, hugging him against her stomach as a christmas movie plays in front of them.

archies ears perk up at the sound of the front door closing and the faint sound of dahlia talking to art.

cassie gasps dramatically, "is that daddy?" she smiles, setting him down as he runs over to art, walking into the living room.

art sets his bags down, crouching to hug his son, picking him up and peppering his face with kisses, "you been good for mommy?". cassie had always noticed arts face lighting up whenever he came home to dahlia or archie, as if he'd been away for a week, when in reality, he'd last saw archie 4 hours ago.
