CHAPTER XXXI
"My eyes search for you everywhere without any reason"

Seoul ,
South Korea ,
03:30 a.m. ,

Y/N tossed and turned in bed, her mind heavy with the day's revelations. Just as she began to drift into a fitful sleep, the barking of dogs outside jarred her awake.

She stirred, heart racing, trying to reassure herself it was just a nightmare. But then she heard a loud thud downstairs. She sat up, her fear mounting.

"It’s just a dream," she whispered to herself, but the shattering sound of glass downstairs snapped her fully awake. Y/N’s breath hitched in her throat. She got up, heart pounding, and tiptoed out of the bedroom.

Peeking from the top of the stairs, she saw the kitchen in disarray, glass shards scattered everywhere.

A shadow moved quickly, hiding just out of sight. Y/N trembled, feeling a cold sweat break out on her skin. She backed away, retreating to her room, and locked the door behind her.

Her hands shook as she frantically searched for her phone. Suddenly, the electricity went out, plunging the house into darkness.

She sobbed quietly, her fingers fumbling in the dark to find her phone. "Please, please," she whispered, desperately trying to dial a number—any number: Jungkook, Liane, the police. But before she could make the call, she heard footsteps, the floorboards creaking ominously.

The sound drew closer. Y/N clamped her hand over her mouth, tears streaming down her face as she clutched the bedside lamp, her hands trembling violently. The doorknob rattled, then the door shook violently as the intruder kicked it repeatedly.

Fear overwhelmed her. She needed to escape. But before she could think of a plan, the door burst open. Y/N’s instinct took over; she dove under the bed, silencing her phone and lowering its brightness. She pressed her hand tightly over her mouth to muffle her sobs, her body shaking uncontrollably.

Footsteps entered the room, slow and deliberate. Her heart pounded in her chest as the intruder’s voice echoed through the darkness. "Chaeyoung?"

The sound of his voice sent a cold shiver down her spine. It was him. That psychopath. Eunwoo or Yong-Eul.

Y/N’s mind raced. She remembered the horror stories, the terror. Eunwoo’s footsteps approached the bed. She could see his shoes from her hiding spot, moving closer and closer.

"Chaeyoung, come out!" he called again, his voice dripping with sinister calm.

Y/N’s breath was shallow, her body trembling. She had to stay quiet, had to stay hidden. She prayed for him to leave, for a miracle, for anything.
