A song to listen to:

Whenever, Wherever by Shakira

Vivienne

The silence on the other line was unnerving. Deep breathing that tickled my ears as I bit my lip. I waited for a long minute for her to say something, react to my words that had been unspoken for too long.

"I'm sorry, Viv, I must have misheard you", Zara's voice was full of disbelief which wasn't a surprise for me.

"No, you didn't", I whispered back and then she started yelling at the other line, at least in four different languages. Words came out of her month so loud that I moved the phone away from my ear and couldn't get a coherent idea of what she was saying. She was displeased that was certain. After several other long minutes she quieted down and I returned the phone to my ear, waiting for the final verdict.

"For how long?" she asked calmly, her voice back to normal with a hint of hock.

"We have only been dating for a month, but you know, since summer maybe", I told her the truth. I had been dreading to tell her for weeks, because I knew how crazy I would sound.

"Vivienne, you can't be serious! I knew something was up when you declined my help for the moving", Zara whined on the phone and I could hear her heavy footsteps as she probably was walking around her apartment with a stressed expression. When stressed, her body needed movement, usually either cleaning like a mad person or walking too many kilometres. "I'm going to catch the next train I can get."

"Zara, please, everything is fine. You are busy, don't worry about me", I begged her. She had gotten a perfect traineeship program that kept her occupied the way she preferred. A train ride to me would take several hours with at least two different trains. That was too much hassle when the situation didn't need it, even if she was up for it.

"How could I not worry? Of all the people, why Zero Liu?", she shrieked again at the end of the line. It was a valid question and I only could give her one answer to ratify it.

"He makes me happy", I stated and the sigh of surrender came out of Zara's mouth. She knew how much those words meant to me. How I didn't say them lightly.

"Ok, I'll not book any tickets. But you better tell me everything right now", she said and our conversation turned around. I shared as much as I could remember, while Zara's mood relaxed. She laughed with me, gasped with me and asked such detailed questions which made me blush. At the end of the call she had me promise to not keep anything from her and a smile had glued on my face. As always, she was there for me.

"What language was that?" a sudden voice disturbed me. I turned towards the door and Celly was there, leaning to the door frame with her usual short and top outfit.

"You scared me. Swedish", I said back and tapped my chest to calm the beating heart under Zero's t-shirt.

"Cool, didn't know you were talented in languages."

"Um yeah, it is just my best friend's mother tongue, she learnt mine and I learnt hers", I told her and put my phone on the nightstand table to recharge the battery. My things had slowly invaded the bedroom, making it more lively. From my place, it was easier to attend school so Zero came every evening, however late it was, to sleep in my bed but during the weekend we liked to be in the mansion.

"Interested in watching some football?" Cel inquired. "We have snacks and good company of course."

I gave a glance of the fabrics in Zero's bed that I brought with me to work during the weekend. I had thought of getting something done while Zero was running around the city for the evening, doing probably some illegal stuff. I had slowly figured out each of them's role in their system, what was everyone's strength, where their talent strove. Zero ordered them around, keeping the strings organised in his hold. Also, he did several odd tasks that didn't land in any specific area. There was some restlessness in him, that could only be satisfied if he took matters in his own hands.
