A song to listen to:
Hearts at War by HIM❀❀❀❀❀
Zero
Celly's knife was stuck on the nameless body. A woman, if I could assume, which was a rare sight. Unlike the other crime empires, the Heidenbergs trained soldiers regardless of their gender. Which also made it more odd, how they were joining the side of Laurents and their pretentious views. Their soldiers were good, but Cel was deadlier and also was Connie, as he had proved himself during last year.
I glanced at the knife, it was covered in blood. It was the only one Celly had left behind in the dozen bodies lying around the warehouse. I sighed and lowered myself to the ground. If I didn't collect it, she would whine after noticing it missing. And there was a limit of family money I allowed her to spend on her precious babies or we would be broken sooner than later.
"She is already looking for that", Cris announced as he walked behind me, his short dark hair a bit ruffled and his eyes flickering to the knife in my leather covered hand. His rifle was hanging on his shoulder, usually he did dispose of them to the car as soon as he was ready.
"Hold it. Everything cleared?" I asked as I gave the knife to Cris. With a handkerchief he wiped the blood off and nodded to my question.
"So you were serious about the news?" My cousin switched the subject. Vivienne and I had been gone for two weeks, only returning last night as Vivienne had to be back at school today. So I joined in on the action this morning, dropping the engagement news the moment we had to leave, not giving them time to pose questions. Hoping they would forget the news in the aftermath.
"Yes", I answered and a rare smirk appeared on Cris' face. "What?"
"You didn't ask her to marry you just because the crazy trio was drunk last month and said you should make her an official Liu already?"
"He most definitely did ask because of that", Cel's voice cut in and she waltzed inside. Her hair was new, dyed blood red and an inch shorter. Her eyes gleamed when she saw the knife and her hands stroked it as Cris gave it back to her.
"No. I asked because I wanted to", I rejected. "But you have a point, it is better to have her as one of us."
"You are so cute in love", Cel basically chuckled, her demeanour not matching to the person who had stabbed half of the people lying on the ground only moments ago.
We were at a war, even if I had been advancing it extremely slowly. I was more eager to crawl to bed with her, my fiance, every night than wonder tactics and strategies. The Laurents and the Heidenbergs could wait or even better destroy each other while I watched. Robert Laurent had been the force to keep them together and now they fought over the place of the highest authority. Only for the winner to be killed.
However, Cel might have been almost right, I was crazy in love. For that reason I made Cris call Hassan and get them to clean up the mess we had made, to not worry about it more than necessary. I was more eager to return. To clean any drop of blood that might have spilled on me. To fuck her senseless as I had for every night on our vacation. To breathe her calming scent.
So I basically threw them inside the car with Connie who had been scouting the bodies which Cris had sniped around the warehouse. I drove us through the roads, over the speed limit. Cris was still occupied with messaging Hassan and the others about details to not be missed. Cel, however, had decided she was going to be a bridesmaid and needed to start the planning of a wedding in the backseat.
"We should pick a good colour theme that represents them both", Connie, who was tasked with documenting their ideas, suggested.
"Impossible. Zero is like a black cloud and Vivienne is a fucking rainbow", Cel's comment made even Cris snort next to me. "Maybe simply white, it is a wedding after all."
