A song to listen to: Premier amour by Nour

An awkward silence had taken over the room and Zero had escaped to the small balcony. He was smoking and no one was batting an eye. I moved my eyes to take in the boring room but like an automatic switch they returned to his back. He hadn't changed his clothes, the dark suit jacket was hanging on his shoulders as he leaned on the metallic railing, looking to the distance for whatever reason. I was fuming, my anger had not disappeared.
"We wait for Rem", he had excused him when I had hunted him down in the mansion. A proper meal and a long bedside story had settled Éléonore to sleep inside of the room I had never seen. My baby had been eager to explore every part of the mansion, but I realised I was a bad tour guide as there were so many doors which were a mystery to me. Several rooms I hadn't even stepped inside, not even Cel's room as back then she really didn't sleep at the mansion that much. My world had been his bedroom, office, the kitchen and their downstairs living room area. An old survival instinct I had had for too long, to not wander anywhere, not to open doors to unknown rooms.
We sat in a meeting opposite Zero's office. The walls were covered with patterns of dark red roses and green leaves, the wallpaper was a bit much for the eye. A round dark table included myself, Ceci, Cris and Connie in the not-so-comfy wooden chairs with matching rose cushions. Ceci was on my left side and Connie on the right, but had a one seat distance. Cris was next to the balcony door, directly opposite Cel.
"Why are we waiting for Remi?" I asked the question out loud, mainly looking at Cris as he was the only one here who knew more. When we arrived at the mansion, I was too keen to get Joie calm down after the excitement of her first plane ride and new place. Also I wanted her to sleep fast so I could go strangle the man giving himself lung cancer currently in the cold. As Celly had made clear she was kept in the dark of what was going on, she dragged Connie to me, who was useless. He only got a word to get to my city as he was closest to me at that moment and a couple addressed where I might be found. A mission to get me onto the plane. Zero shared details to Celly only after they landed, which didn't sound odd as their relationship was a bit strained according to her. In short my questions were unanswered, making everyone restless except Cris.
"We call it the cousin council. All of us making decisions or plans", Celly offered, her pink long fingernails, which were filed too sharp, stabbing mini holes to the table's pretty wood. She was sharing my anxiety, scrutinising Cris with her gaze.
"But we need Remi for him to explain why I'm here?"
"He needs", was an answer that slipped Cris's lips as he shrugged his shoulders and he gave me a half smile. The neutral expression he had been wearing crumbled a little. He was oddly casual, his eyes had been staring at me curiously for several times. Like he was stalking how acted around everyone.
"That lazy bastard should be here already", Ceci murmured, eyes calculating her brother's words.
"Fuck you, I'm not lazy", a loud voice startled behind our backs and a small smack landed on Cel's head. Her nails dug deep into the table and the pink hair strands flew around as she whipped her head. Slightly I turned my body to see him. Remi looked the same as well, maybe a bit more adult with the few days old stubble on his face and his hair in perfect perm to frame his face with the longer hair strands almost reaching his chin.
"Honey, you are home", his cheery voice matched the bright smile spreading on his face. He was wearing his motorcycle gear, carrying his black helmet in his hand. The nickname I hadn't heard for years warmed me but still I knew he was behind the fact that his brother had my exact location. He had searched and found me.
