"Call me if you need anything. And....dad asked me to bring you lunch later so....I will. Also....don't do anything strenuous".

Ilay said to me that morning, after he dropped me off at college. I couldn't help but feel like he had become nicer to me overnight 

"Maybe it's his way of apologizing for hurting my wrist". I thought.

I decided not to think too much about it, and walked to my faculty. On getting inside the lecture hall, all the girls came up to me.

"The guy that picked you up yesterday, and dropped you off this morning, who's he?". They asked.

I stared at them without saying anything. Cheryl slapped her hand on the desk. I flinched.

"Hey! We're asking you a question, so you have to answer. Who's he? Your new boyfriend? Or perhaps a sugar daddy?". She asked.

I glared at her. "D- Don't....talk about him like that! He's not my sugar daddy". I said, defending him.

"Then tell us. Who is he to you? He was driving a Bentley - that means he's rich. Has to be your boyfriend or sugar daddy, right?". Cheryl asked.

"H- he isn't my boyfriend or my sugar daddy, he's just.....a friend". I replied.

"Really? Then why did you stutter?". Shelby asked.

"Well... I- ".

"Are you girls try'na suffocate her? Let her breathe. And so what if he's her boyfriend. What you pussies gonna do about that? Isn't she allowed to date whoever she wants?". Someone said.

I turned to see Spencer walking into the lecture hall. I thanked him with my eyes. He smiled back at me.

All the girls immediately stepped back, and I breathed a sigh of relief. He took a seat next to me. "Thanks Spencer". I whispered.

He patted my arm. "You're my girl. I'd do anything for you. It's my duty. No need to thank me babygirl". He said to me.

I nudged him with my elbow. "Who's your babygirl? Keep dreaming". I said to him playfully. "I....have something to tell you at lunch. Would you be free?". I ask him.

He nods. "Yeah I'll be free. I'm never too busy for you, you know". He said with a smile. Our conversation was cut short when the lecturer walked in. 

I got so hungry during class that I had to sneakily take out the avocado toast that Patricia had made me from my bag, and stealthily eat it. I ate all three toasts and still felt hungry.

I kept looking at the time on my phone. I wished it'd be lunch time soon. I wanted to text Ilay to tell him to bring me some chocolates, but I felt it'd be rude, so I didn't. After all we weren't that close.

I'd never been so hungry. In fact ever since I fell pregnant, I never seemed to get enough food. I always wanted more. But I didn't want to gain weight, so I tried to not eat all the junk food I was craving.

After what felt like forever, I was done with all my morning classes. Spencer and I walked to a café near the university. The café was owned by a single mom. She had three kids, and did all she could to put them through school even though her husband had died five years ago.

We took a seat and Spencer ordered us milkshakes. "I'm sorry Spencer, but I really can't have milkshakes now". I said to him.

He furrowed his brows. "And....why is that? I thought you loved milkshakes". He said.

"Well....I do but it's jus- ". My phone suddenly rang, interrupting me. I took the phone out of my bag. It was Ilay. "I'm sorry, I have to take this". I said to Spencer before going out to answer the phone.

"River, where the fuck are you? I brought you lunch, and I can't find you anywhere. What are you doing right now? Where did you go?". He asked angrily.

There was a hint of concern in his voice, even though he sounded like a jerk.

"I came to a café just a few blocks away from the university. Sorry I didn't inform you. I'll come back to the university now". I said.

"No! Stay right there. I'll bring the food to you. Share your location with me". He said.

"Okay". I hung up and went back inside.
