I decided to ignore Ilay's childish behavior. I just hoped he'd care for the child, because we did this together. I didn't understand what he meant by me scheming, but I didn't have the energy to over think.

I followed behind him as he walked into the house. The interior exuded elegance.

The sleek black, white, and grey color scheme creates a dramatic and modern ambiance. The hardwood floors, made of rich dark wood, stretched across the room, provided a warm and inviting foundation for the space.

The walls were painted a crisp white, that served as a canvas for the room's stunning features. A majestic black marble fireplace stands tall, its sleek lines and subtle veining adding a touch of elegance. Above the fireplace, a large grey and white abstract art piece commands attention.

The furniture is a masterclass in understated opulence, with plush grey sofas and armchairs arranged in a conversational circle. The sofas' sleek, low-profile design creates a sense of flow and continuity, while the armchairs' subtle tufting adds a touch of classic sophistication. A statement black chandelier hangs from the ceiling, its delicate crystals refracting light and casting a warm glow.

A sleek black grand piano sits in one corner, its polished surface reflecting the room's colors and adding a touch of glamour.

I kept looking around, as I followed Ilay. Soon Mr Stone came downstairs. It was the first time I saw him in an outfit that wasn't a suit. He looked less....intimidating.

He smiled warmly at me. "My grandson is finally home". He said while looking at me. Ilay had already taken a seat on one of the sofas.

Mr Stone walked forward, and took my hand. "Come have a seat". I flinched from the pain. That was the hand Ilay had injured earlier.

He looked at me. "What's wrong? Are you injured?". He asked.

I shook my head. "No sir. I'm fine". I lied.

He pulled my sleeve up, revealing the bruise on my wrist. "What's this?". He asked sternly.

"Well....I....it was an accident. Noting serious. It'll heal in a few days. My friend accidentally gripped my hand too tight". I lied again.

I couldn't let him know it was Ilay that hurt me. He brought me over to the sofa, and made me sit down.

Ilay glared at me for a moment, and went upstairs.

"Patricia, please get the first aid kit". Mr Stone called out to the maid.

Mr Stone took a seat on the sofa next to me. Soon the maid came down with the first aid kit.

She greeted me with a warm smile.

"Oh! ¿No eres la cosa más bonita de todas?". She said in Spanish as she placed the kit beside my leg.

"Sorry. I meant to say you're really pretty". She apologized.

I smiled at her. "It's okay. I understand a little Spanish".

She smiled back, and gently took my arm. She look at it closely. "It's nothing serious. Just some ice and an ointment for the pain and swelling. It'd heal in a few days". She said.

She went to the kitchen and came back with an ice pack.

"River, this is Patricia. She's our maid. She's been here since Ilay was ten years old. She manages everything in the house. She'd also take care of you, so if you need anything you can ask her". Mr Stone said to me.

I nodded.

"Patricia, this is River. She's pregnant and would be staying with us from now. You're to keep her pregnancy an absolute secret while taking care of her. Noting must happen to my grandson". Mr Stone said.

"Don't worry about a thing, boss. My lips are sealed". Patricia replied as she gently treated my wrist.

"Alright. Show River to her room. Let her get some rest before dinner". Mr Stone instructed before heading upstairs.

Patricia was really sweet. She showed me the room that had been prepared for me. I loved every bit of it. She even fixed me a bath before going back to make dinner.

Staying here would be easier with Patricia around.

I took my clothes off and headed to the bathroom. I slowly sank into the warm water, letting myself relax. It was perfect.

I stepped out of the bathroom to see an outfit already laid out on the bed for me. Then I remembered I hadn't brought my clothes with me.

It was a pair of loose fitting shorts, and an oversized T-shirt. They fit me perfectly.

I snuggled into the warmth of the mattress. I picked up my phone to text Meagan, then I saw a text from Mr Stone.

"Had Ilay send you some clothes. You can wear that tonight. I'll have someone bring your clothes tomorrow". He said.

I smiled at the text. I didn't know he could be so thoughtful.

Thanks for reading guys. So....what do y'all think. Is Ilay really stone hearted, or is he just being cold because of the misconception he has about River?
