On getting downstairs the next morning, Patricia told  me that River had be vomiting for a while now. She handed me a glass of warm lemon water.

"Go, mi hijito. Give this to her. I know this is all new and strange to you, but she's suffering more". Patricia said.

I nodded and took the glass from her. I headed upstairs to River's room. I could hear her vomiting as I got closer to the door. I walked into the room and placed the glass on the nightstand.

I walked to the bathroom door and lightly tapped on it.

"Can I come in?". I asked politely.

She remained silent for a while. "Yes. Y- you can". She said. I pushed open the bathroom door to see her crouched down next to the toilet.

She looked exhausted. I don't think she'd be able to get up on her own. I rolled my eyes and lifted her in my arms.

"What are you doing? Let go of me!". She said as she struggled to get out of my arms, with a kittens strength

"Relax. I'm only taking you out of the bathroom. There's a lot of germs in there. You sitting next to the toilet isn't very sanitary". I said to her.

She calmed down after that, and I gently carried her out of the bathroom. She still had that intoxicating scent from that night. It made me want to lean in and kiss her neck, lips and face.

She looked up at me, and I notice her cheeks turn a bright pink. I smile inwarldy. I gently place her on the bed and handed her the glass.

"This is lime water. Patricia said it'd help you feel better". I said.

She smiled and took the glass from me. "Thanks". She said weakly.

"Don't get any ideas. My father forced me to do this". I said.

"Fuck! That wasn't what I wanted to say! Why did I say that? I wanted to let her know I didn't mind taking care of her. What is wrong with me?". I scolded myself mentally.

She nodded. "I know. I'm just expressing my gratitude". She said.

"Um....you have classes this morning right? You get ready quickly. I'll....drop you off at college". I said, and immediately walked out.

I knew she was late for college, and dad hadn't found a driver for her yet, so I wanted to be nice and drop her off.

I went downstairs and had breakfast, then I went to the car to wait for River. She came out in about thirty minutes. She looked absolutely stunning in a pretty white dress.

I found myself drooling.

"Sorry for making you wait". She apologized as she got into the car.

"Because of you I'd be late as well. The next time you do this, you'd walk to school". I said.

She bit her lip. "I'm really sorry. It won't happen again".

I ignored her and quickly drove off.

I dropped her at the entrance. "Bye. See you later at home". She said as she waved me goodbye.

"Whatever". I replied and drove off.

She was so cute. She made my heart flutter. I want to hear her say those words everyday.

I thought back to the incident of that night. With the number of times she's denied drugging me, I started to think that she really might be innocent. Maybe I should investigate the matter properly.

I drove to the company and headed straight for dad's office.

"How's River doing?". Dad asked the moment I walked into the office.

"Well....she was vomiting for almost the whole morning, but Patricia helped, and she's at college now. I dropped her off". I replied.

Dad nodded. "That's good. Don't forget to bring her lunch. I don't want her eating anything unsanitary outside". He said to me.

"Also....Bianca must never find out about this baby, or the fact that River is living with us. I don't trust that girl. She seems just as cunning as her mother. I would not tolerate any harm coming to my grandson". Dad said.

I scoffed. "Cunning? Bianca? Bianca could never be cunning. She's not that smart. She only knows Hermes and Miumiu. She could never harm the baby. For all we know you she could be more innocent than River. River is just like a serpent. She coul- "

Dad banged his hand on the table, cutting me off. "Open your eyes and see properly. River is so innocent. Does she seem like a girl who'd drug you? Before you insult her personality, find out the truth". Dad said angrily.

"I've said all I needed to say. If Bianca finds out about the baby, you're dead meat. Also, I won't tolerate any degrading comments about River". He said.

I nodded. "Alright. I'll do as you say".

"Perhaps dad was right. I should stop judging River. For all I know there could be more to that night than meets the eye".  I thought to myself.

I decided to change the subject. "The new hotel we just opened in Dubai has been doing well. We received five percent more profit than the one in Britain". I said.

"That's great. I knew I could trust you to manage it. Good job!". He said with a smile.

"I have another project I want you to handle". He said, as he threw the file to me. I took it and headed to my office.
