Chapter 5: An Alpha comes for Tea

Izuku has been enjoying the first few days of his impromptu few days off so far. He has been able to get his apartment cleaned and even sorted his nest out. He needed to order some new blankets and pillows, which he was indeed happy to do. He only ever has time off for his heats every three months, it felt nice to be able to relax and take care of himself for once.

Uraraka had visited again, as she said that she would. She stayed for pizza and a movie night, Izuku managing to stay awake for this one. Again, something that he hadn't realised he had missed. He had been so caught up in his hero work that he had begun to neglect his own wellbeing and even his friends. They hadn't said anything to him about it, but he knew that he needed to make a change in his behaviour.

It was now his fifth day off. He had woken up later than usual, snuggling deeper into his nest and enjoying the softness of the new cushions that had arrived yesterday. They didn't quite smell right yet, they wouldn't until after his next heat which was supposed to be next month. That thought had him wondering. It would be his first one since discovering that Kacchan was his mate. His inner Omega wined quietly at the thought of spending it alone. No, he had to be firm with himself. He could not tell him, he had to carry on with things how they were. Just because it was Kacchan made no difference, didn't it?

Grumbling and rolling around amidst his nest, scenting the new items as best he could, he heard a sharp knock on the door to his apartment. He wasn't expecting anyone, Uraraka said she was working today so wouldn't be popping over. Who else could it be? It had better not be Kacchan. No, it couldn't be. Anyway, he threw on some loose fitting clothes and went to answer the door.

He checked the peephole and then opened it. As it swung open, there stood a tall Alpha he was happy to see. It was Todoroki. Izuku smiled at his friend, gave him a quick hug and welcomed him inside. The two made their way into the living area.

"Can I get you a drink?" Izuku asked and he directed the Alpha to take a seat.

"Sure, I'll have a tea please," the Alpha sat, not taking his eyes off the Omega as he went to make drinks.

"I thought you were working today, Todoroki. I'm sure Uraraka said that you were on shift with her?"

"I was. I swapped with Iida. He asked, and he said that he wanted to work with Uraraka."

"Oh, ok then," Izuku had come back from the kitchen area with two hot mugs of tea. He thought it odd that the two Alphas had swapped. Iida was always keen to stick to the schedule, even when it came to his mate. Shaking the thought off, he sat on the other end of the sofa.

"How are you getting on?" Todoroki asked after he had taken a sip.

Izuku wasn't sure how to answer. As Todoroki was an Alpha, and one that he had indeed slept with in the past, the two of them didn't really talk about their feelings. No, that was mainly done with Uraraka.

"I'm ok, I guess. I'm still trying to come up with a plan for when I need to speak to Kacchan. I know that he is going to blow up in my face about how I behaved at the party. I mean, I'm surprised that he hasn't tracked me down yet. It shouldn't be difficult for him to find my address. I guess I'm just being a coward and hiding away from it all. I'm just grateful that he hasn't come knocking yet."

A very small smile could be seen on the Alpha's face as he listened to the other male speak. He would never admit it aloud, but he found it cute when the Omega rambled on.

"Yes, Bakugo has been on a rampage of sorts when I have seen him on shift. We all know how loud and aggressive he is, but it does seem a little over the top at the moment," Todoroki looked directly at Izuku. He wanted to see how the Omega would respond to what he had said regarding the blonde Alpha.

However, Izuku stayed silent. He knew the Alpha was hot-headed. He always had been, it was one of the few things he admired about him when he thought about it. The more he pictured the blonde, the brighter the blush grew on his freckled face.

"I know that I need to speak with him soon. I just know that if I hadn't taken this week off he would have come looking for me whilst on shift. I could not handle an encounter like that in the middle of the city. I'm thinking of organising a meetup somewhere neutral, somewhere we can talk in private that won't stink of either of our pheromones. I need to keep my secret just that. I can't have him inside my apartment. I can't scent-proof this place, it's not doable," he was off rambling again.

Todoroki took that moment to move a little closer to the Omega. Not quite touching him, but close enough to be able to smell Izuku's sweet green apple scent. He hadn't left his apartment so what was the point in suppressing his scent?

"You need to think about you, Izuku. There are two of you in this situation and you are always putting Bakugo first. Yes, it has been revealed that he is your mate and your Alpha. But you don't want him to know about it. You have your heat next month, unless you have changed your schedule? Are you going to tell him by them? Is he going to be helping you through it?"

Izuku was a little taken back by the Alpha's bluntness. It was a little out of character for him and somewhat invasive. Yes, he had spent a heat with Todoroki, but that was ages ago. Wait...was he offering himself?

"Are you asking to help me through it, Todoroki? I know that you have before, but...it's just..."

The Alpha turned his head to hide his blush before he spoke, "only if you want me too. It would be just as a friend of course."

"Oh Todoroki, you are one of my dearest friends. I could not ask you to do that for me. I appreciate the offer, I do. I will be ok though. It isn't the first time, and I'm sure that it won't be the last one I spend alone."

The Alpha's head turned back round at the words. He had hoped to be helpful, yet the Omega was being as independent as always.

"Do you like him?"

Izuku's eyes went wide as he heard the question. How was he supposed to answer that? Kacchan was his oldest friend. Yes, they had drifted over the years and definitely had their issues. But, did he like the Alpha? He was definitely attractive. An ideal Alpha to have as a mate when he truly thought about it. He was strong, handsome and would definitely keep his Omega safe. The real question was, did Kacchan like him? It didn't really matter how Izuku felt, it was pointless if his feelings weren't reciprocated.

"Midoriya, are you ok? You haven't said anything." Todoroki had placed a hand on the Omega's leg, shaking it gently to bring him back to the present.

"Oh, sorry Todoroki. Yes, I'll be ok. I just have a few things to think through."

Todoroki took that as a cue for him to make an exit. He clearly had an answer to his question.

"I think I am going to head off. You have a lot on your mind and I have some things that I need to sort out myself."

"Only if you're sure? You don't have to go."

"No, I think I will. Thank you for the tea. I'll message you later."

Izuku nodded and followed the Alpha to the front door, "if you're sure."

Todoroki simply nodded, gave the smaller male a gentle hug and opened the door.

There in the doorway was a blonde haired Alpha. None other than Katsuki Bakugo himself.

"K...kacchan," squeaked the Omega before slamming the door shut, leaving both Alphas outside of the apartment.
