It took some time, but finally, after calming down.
Cross told Nightmare everything.
To say the Lord was pissed was an understatement. His anger took ahold of him, and he quickly stormed out of their bedchambers and off to find Mericus.
Cross begged him not to do anything harsh, but the taller didn't listen. Cross ran after him.
He has lost Nightnare for a moment. He panicked and bumped into another couple in the process.
"Geno! I-Im so sorry!-"
"Hey, hey! It's alright, what's gotten you so stressed, Your Grace?"
Geno asked.
Reaper was confused.
"H-Have you guys seen Nightmare? I need to find him before-"
There was a shout that alarmed both the couple and Cross.
"I think we found him."
Reaper hummed.
Quickly, they ran towards the source.

"AND JUST WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ARE!?"
Mericus shouted.
"YOUR THE ONE PUTTING THOSE DISGUSTING HANDS ON MY SPOUSE!"
The two seemed ready to get physical, Nightmares tendrils were violently swinging, wanting to crush anything between its grip.
Mericus balled his fist, eyes red with burning rage.
"YOU TOOK HIM FROM ME! HE WAS NEVER SUPPOSED TO GO WITH YOU AT ALL!"
Mericus shouted.
"YOU TOOK WHAT WAS OWED TO ME!!"
Nightmare growled.
"HE WAS NEVER YOURS! THERE WAS NO BETROTHAL IN THE FIRST PLACE YOU STUBBORN JACKASS!"
Nightmare fired back.
"THEN WHY HIM, HIM OF ALL MONSTER, YOU HAVE THE STATUS AND THE MONEY, YOU DO NOT NEED HIM!"
Mericus bared his fangs.
"I NEED HIM!"
"QUIT WITH IT! YOULL NEVER GET HIM, HE BELONGS TO ME!""
Mericus scoffed.
"Did you ever tell him the reason. Why you took him in the FIRST PLACE!?"
"........"
Not to far from them was Cross and the couple of the Hekatha Kingdom, watching and listening to everything.
Things seem to have gotten serious, especially now since Reaper seemed to have tensed and began to walk towards them.
YOU DO NOT NEED HIM
"Did you ever tell him the real reason we were to be betrothed at all? Or why you took that spot immediately? Why his father give him away to either of us?"
Nightmare snarled as the other continued to speak.
" You really seemed hungry for power, Nightmare. You just wanted a reason to go to war. Wasn't it you that said he was only going to be a pawn in this new game of yours?"
"......"
"You don't love him! So why fight for him if your surely just using him-"
"AND WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU GONNA USE HIM FOR!?"
Nightmare shouted.
"YOU GOOD FOR NOTHING SHIT! YOU THINK I DIDN'T KNOW YOUR INTENTIONS!"
Mericus bared his fangs as Nightmare continued.
"YOU WOULD HAVE DONE MUCH WORSE, IF NOT THEN JUST AS BAD AS THOSE WHO RAISED HIM!"
Nightmare smirked.
"But of course, how could his dear old dad refuse someone of higher status than you. Surely he'd been a fool."
Nightmare chuckled, almost wickedly, maniacally even.
Cross felt taken aback.
'What are they talking about...?'
"Both are you, QUIT IT."
Reaper finally spoke between them.
"Your useless bickering won't do well for any of you, especially you Mericus!"
Reaper continued.
"So whatever it is, quit it! Before another war breaks out over someone whose already MARRIED!"
He mostly spoke in the direction of the younger Lord.
Geno took ahold of Cross and pushed Cross away from view of the others.

"Geno, w-what are they t-talking about? Why a-are they s-saying those things?"
Cross asked, confused and scared.
Geno merely shook his head and kept it down.
He knew something.
"Clearly Nightmares upset with him since it involves you, but please try to ignore all of that."
Geno held Cross' hand in his gently.
"Stay away from Mericus and be careful."
Cross grew more scared.
Everything he heard, he never knew that....
Oh, a pawn? An object?
Cross felt his soul sink, it hurt worse then before.
No real love..? Was he just for a treaty or status?
He felt himself on the verge of breakdown, and what's worse is that both Reaper and Nightmare had turned the corner to spot both him and Geno.
Nightmare then felt his own soul sink.
Cross looked at him with tears.
"......"
"N-Nightmare.. y-you really..-"
Cross took a couple steps back.
"Cross I di- "
Cross didn't wait for him to finish as he once again ran off, ignoring both Geno and Nightmares pleas.
'What am i gonna do now! I thought I could tell him! But...'
Tears fell down his face.
'How long am I gonna keep this baby from him!?'

Nightmare stared in disbelief at where his lover used to be.
"Cross.."
"Nightmare."
Reaper spoke.
"Hm?"
"Maybe.. you should have told him sooner."
"...."
"Yes, I should have..."
