This is a long one :D
Max:
Over the past few weeks Bradley and max had fallen into a routine. They really didn't talk much at all unless they had to, it was obvious to max that Bradley was trying to be better and that was good enough for him but they wouldn't never be more than roommates, he was determined to stick to that.
They really only communicated when they would go grocery shopping, or for dinner, or if either one was leaving.
Max had realized that Bradley would have a phone call with his mom every Friday. He never mentioned it but he could faintly hear their conversations in the other room and he hated admitting it but he was intrigued. Most of the time Bradley would just talk about school and Max thought that was just so boring, all Bradley ever does is school and homework and studying, does he not have a life?
Come to think of it, did Bradley really have any friends? He never mentioned anyone on the phone with his mother, just the casual "me and my roommate get along fine" but nothing about anyone else. Bradley never went out, only to go to the campus gym and he found that Bradley had taken on swimming as a hobby as well.
He didn't even skate anymore?? Of course Max hadn't been in Bradley's room but he caught a glimpse of his skateboard hung on the wall. Maybe he just lost his passion for it after everything that happened at the games, he hadn't talked about skating with his mom at all either.
If max really thought about it, he would assume Bradley was depressed, doing everything he can to distract himself from the fact he has no friends here and no enrichments to look forward to.
None the less it really wasn't Max's business and thinking about it too much made Max want to do something about it which was definitely not the best option. Like he said, him and Bradley would be nothing more than roommates and Bradley's self isolation wasn't going to change that at all.
He picked up his phone and reviewed messages from his group chat. Pj and Bobby want to go skating this evening to freshen up and practice since the X games are coming up. Max had thought about it but if he was being honest he wasn't extremely excited for the games.
He wasn't sure why, he knew he had a passion for skating and for competition but he just felt worn out. He had also felt like a part of the games were missing, like he wasn't able to compete unless that part was back and it bothered him not knowing what was missing.
He decided he would still join them, skating could still be fun.
30 minutes later he had showered and dressed himself. All ready to go, he grabbed his skateboard and his earbuds on the way out, then he went to knock on Bradley's door.
"Whatsup??"
Cried Bradley as max heard chaotic shuffling in his room
"Oh hey I was just letting you know I'm going out skating alright? I'll be back probably late at night so don't wait up"
He Holland before he could get to the door and by the time he did Max had started to back away
"Heard"
He replied, out of breath as he looked up at Max and a rush of curiosity rushed through him, wondering what he was doing before hand that was so urgent for him to hide.
The face Max was expressing obviously showed how curious and judgmental he was in the moment because Bradley quickly became red and defensive
"What?! Just go and skate, stop wondering!!"
He shouted making him even more curious but it wasn't his business, he was right. So Max made his way to the door, giving him a goodbye wave on his way out.
