Max:

"What'dya say you come with me...huh?"

Asked Bradley to max as he began to slip his arms into his beige leather jacket. There was a music festival going on near campus that Eleanor had invited Bradley to with her boyfriend and Max had been bugging about being alone at the dorm

"Go with you...why would I do that?"
Teased max, though he was hoping the invite was genuine

"Well you know, I don't hate you and all...oh and third wheeling sucks!"
Bradley replied so casually as he slipped his wallet into his pocket and reached for his phone.

Bradley was occupied and was barely paying attention to max while he spoke, it seemed like it didn't matter to him at all either way it went.

Max couldn't help but stare, Bradley was in a different light now, he was handsome and clean. He was charming and friendly and gentle. All these characteristics that max had never bothered to recognize before.

"Uhh okay...I'm all set, are you tagging along or not??"
Asked Bradley raising his eyebrows as he tapped his hands on the back pockets of his jeans, he looked so smooth and intent and max was melting.

"I..uh yeah! Let me get my shoes and wallet I'll meet you outside!!!"

Max shot finger guns at Bradley before scurrying to his room to gather his things but mostly gather himself.

As Max swiftly shut is door he started to gather his breath. Why had this felt like a date?  Like Bradley wanted him there..?

There was no time to process or freak out over this thought max as he tied his laces and considerately applied cologne.

This would be fun, it would be the greatest opportunity to get to know Bradley more, as his friend..for now..well what was max thinking? Probably forever!!

Bradley had been leaning on the wall in the hallway with his hands in his pockets waiting for Max, he quickly straightened out when max had opened the dorm door.

"Ahh you ready princess?" Joked Bradley

Max flicked his arm

"Call me that one more time BRAD."

They both chuckled a little while they started toward Bradley's car

"You know I've never actually hated that name..?" Bradley said almost hesitantly, like it was a conversation he wasn't sure he wanted to have.

"Wait really??...then why be so worked up about it?" Asked max curiously

"Well..I guess I don't know..I've never enjoyed nicknames much. It just feels like bullying" said Bradley

He was shy..a bit distant with his answer as if he had trailed off to a memory or remembered something he didn't want to.

"Hmm.. I've always thought of it like growing a closer bond with someone. Like you enjoy them enough to create a name for them. Like one only you two use"
Rambled Max

"Like exclusive." Added Bradley as he opened his car door and fastened his seatbelt.

"Yes, exclusive" agreed Max

Butterflies had been stirring in his stomach, once max had become aware of his feelings almost everything had turned into too much for him. Max found himself questioning if a normal conversation was flirting.

The two didn't talk much in the car for the first few minutes, it was a bit awkward of course.

"So uhh...how far is it?" Asked max, breaking the silence

"Umm a little over 20 minutes. It's at the star world field." Replied Bradley

"Ahh."

How did it get so silent in so little time? Max wanted to talks, to get to know things about Bradley. He wanted to feel close to him, however all he felt was out of place. Who knew how he would feel once they got there,
