Dally quickly looked away and so did I. Our food soon arrived and we ate in silence. After we finished eating the waitress brought the check. Dally put the money in and we got up and left.

We started walking back to my house, but before we made it there Dally smirked and said "hey, wanna come to Buck's party tonight?" I scoffed and said "we both know Darry would never let me."

His voice turned reckless as he said "Who said anything about asking Darry? I'll be outside your window at ten, you can get out that way."

I scoffed once again "Darry told me to never go within 3 miles of Buck's." He smirked and said "stop worrying so much, just sneak out the window, I promise you'll have fun." I sighed and said "fine."

He smirked again and we continued on the way to my house. When we got there we went inside. He then said "I gotta get to rodeo, see ya tonight." I said "see ya tonight." He then went out the door.

I looked at the time, it was three right now. But the day passed quickly. When Ponyboy came home we went to the movies. I didn't get to see Sodapop or Darry tonight cause they were working late.

When it was nine thirty I quickly said good night to Ponyboy and went to my room. I soon heard knocking on my window. I looked down and saw Dally.

I opened up the window and jumped out. Dally smirked and said "ready to go?" I nodded my head and we started walking to Buck's.

Once we were getting close I could see red lights and I could hear music booming from the speakers.

Soon we made it to the door and we entered the bar. Dally led me over to the bar area. Buck was behind the counter. He walked over to Dally and said "what can I get ya?" Dally said "Two shots of whiskey."

Buck quickly made them and gave them to Dally. Dally handed one of them to me. Dally drank his quickly, while I was more cautious. It was my first time drinking.

Dally ordered a few more, and a few more after that. Eventually he wanted to go outside and have a cigarette, so we went out onto the porch.

Dally lit up a cigarette. After a few moments I was starting to feel the effects of the alcohol. It felt strange.

I soon heard a song that caught my attention: Let the world burn it seemed to catch Dally's attention as well. I paid attention to the lyrics.

I shouldn't of fallen in love
Look what it made me become
I let you get too close
Just to wake up alone
And I know you think you can run
You're scared to believe I'm the one
But I just can't let you go

I'd let the world burn
Let the world burn for you
This is how it always had to end
If I can't have you then no one can
I'd let it burn
Let it burn for you
Just to hear you calling out my name
Watching it all go down in flames

My concentration was disturbed when Dally said "I'd let the world burn for you, but I know you're scared to believe I'm the one." I was in utter shock from what Dally said. My eyes went wide as I said "you don't mean that Dally, you're just drunk."

Dally stomped out his cigarette and started walking over to me. "I mean it, I love you Jenny. I have for a while, but I didn't say anything cause I knew Johnny did too. But like you said, Johnny left you at your lowest, and I knew you were scared of me."

I quietly asked "what do you mean you've loved me for 'a while'?" He responded "a few months after I got back from New York."

I tried to do the math in my head, but it was difficult because I was drunk. The closest I could get was about three years.

Did Dally actually mean what he was telling me? He had secretly had a crush on me for three years? Before today I didn't think Dally loved anything, much less me.

(A/N: I know this song didn't exist in 1965 but I really wanted to add it and I felt it added to the story.)
