I walked into the living room to where Ponyboy was. He said "what were you doing at the movies with Dally today?" I scoffed and replied "I could ask you why Johnny was with you and Phoenix and why I was left out!"

I started to feel tears rolling down my face, I quickly ran to my room and shut the door. He didn't even feel bad about leaving me out, he didn't care, he thought that I was the one in the wrong.

I soon heard Ponyboy knocking on the door. He said what sounded like "Look Jenny, I'm really sorry, it's just we walked past Johnny and he looked a little upset, so we asked if he wanted to come with us."

It sounded true, and plus they had never left me out before, so I decided to forgive him. I slowly turned the door handle to let him in. He gave me a cautious smile.

A few hours later my other brothers arrived home from work. And some of the gang came over. I saw Dally and Johnny walk in the door. My eyes met Johnny's dark brown ones. He started to say "wait Jenny, please just let me talk to you..." but I was already pushing past him to get out of the house.

I ran to the lot, which was a bad idea because it reminded me of all the times Johnny and I had spent together. I sat down with my back leaning against the tree.

It was a little while later until Dally found me. He sat down next to me and said "Johnny wants to apologize and get back together with you." I said "but I can't, he told me he cared about me and then left me at my worst." Dally then said "he was trying to protect you."

I responded "I don't need to be protected, I can handle myself." He scoffed but let it drop. After a few moments he said "come on, you need to get home." He started to stand up.

"Is Johnny still there?" I asked. He responded "Yes, but you two have to work it out sooner or later." I glared at him and said "later." He scowled and said "you're coming." I snickered and said "make me."

At this he smirked and said "oh I will." He walked over to me, and despite my struggling, picked me up and threw me over his shoulder.

"Put me down!" I yelled. "Will you go home if I do?" I said "yes." But my smile gave me away when I was lying, and this was a lie, I was planning on running away again."

Dally smirked again and said "I doubt that." We eventually made it back to my house. Dally turned the door handle and walked in.

The hole gang except Johnny and Darry burst out laughing. "Jesus Christ, put her down Dal." Darry said rolling his eyes. Dally placed me on the couch. I crossed my arms and scowled at him. He smirked and chuckled in response.

Johnny walked in front of me and this time I waited to hear what he had to say "Jenny, can I please talk to you, just give me a chance to explain what I did what I did."

I nodded in response. We walked out of the house to the lot. I waited for Johnny to start the conversation.

"Jenny, I know you're mad at me and you have every right to be. It's just when the Socs jumped you I panicked. I felt guilty, maybe if I had insisted on walking you home you wouldn't have been jumped, I kept thinking about what would've happened if they had beaten you up like they had beaten me up, and I felt like it would've been my fault." Johnny said

He paused for a moment, letting me take in what he had said, then continued "do you think there's anyway you could forgive me, I still have feelings for you."

I said "Look Johnny, I get why you did what you did, but it really hurt me, you left me at my lowest, we can go back to being friends but I need time before we become anything more again."

Johnny smiled a shy smile and said "I understand, I'm just glad to be friends with you again." I returned his smile and we began our walk back to my house.
