They both are the ones

Chapter 17-Comfort

Ponyboy and Johnny rushed over to me as soon as they saw me. They both helped me over to the couch and they both sat down next to me.

Ponyboy said "Hey calm down and tell us what happened." I said in between sobs "Dally...and Phoenix...they were together...and Phoenix was t-telling Dally...that I-I wasn't...good enough for him."

Right then Johnny pulled me and said "that's not true Jenny, you're too good for Dally, and if he can't see that than he's an idiot."

I buried my face in Johnny's shoulder and sobbed even more until I fell asleep in Johnny's arms. When it was time for bed Johnny and Ponyboy carried my to my room.

A few minutes after I was there I was woken by a knocking on my window. I just rolled over and ignored it and went back to sleep, but then I was woken by being shaken.

I turned over to see Dally. I glared at him angrily. "How did you even make it in here?" I said with venom in my tone.

Dally gave me a confused expression and said "um...I think you might need a new window, but what's wrong Jenny? You seem mad."

The fact that he was playing dumb only made me more angry "I don't know, why don't you ask Phoenix?" He suddenly looked shocked and worried.

"It's not what you think." He said in a worried tone. I then spoke, my tone showing my anger more with each second. "then what was it?"

He took a deep and then said "Jenny, I was on my way to your house when Phoenix started talking to me, I swear I told her that I have no interest in her, and that she was a horrible person for trying to make me like her when I'm dating you, and that if she ever comes near you again I'll beat the tar out of her."

He did seem pretty sincere, but I was still hurt, I sighed and said "look, let's talk about this more in the morning for now just go." Dally nodded and walked to the window, sadness on his face "see you tomorrow, love you Jenny." I just stayed silent as he made his way out the window.

I fell into a troubled sleep, the scene of Dally and Phoenix playing in my head like a broken record. I tried my best to banish the thought, but it stayed.

When I woke up the next morning I went over to examine my window, I did in fact need a new window, I cussed Dally out under my breath before making my way downstairs.

When I reached the bottom of the stairs I saw Ponyboy and Johnny playing a game of cards. They both gave me a small smile before Ponyboy said

"Hey Jenny, good morning." I smiled and said "good morning guys." And I walked over and joined the game for a little while.

But then I heard the door handle turn and heard footsteps coming towards us, I turned to see Dally, knowing I would have to talk to him.
