Chapter 16-Betrayal

As the days went by, Darry tried to keep me and Dally away from each other as much as possible, when he came over Darry made me go to my room, and wouldn't let me go anywhere with Dally.

But what Darry didn't know was that I snuck Dally in through my window each night. It was getting late and I heard a tap on my window. I smiled and opened it, knowing it was Dally.

Dally quickly and quietly climbed into my room and pulled me into a kiss, we kissed for a minute before Dally pulled away. He smirked as he held my hand and walked across the room to sit on the bed.

He laid down, and I laid down next to him putting my head on his chest. Dally said in a quiet voice "Darry still won't let me see you?" I answered in the same quiet voice "no, he always makes me come to my room when you're around."

He rolled his eyes and said "he'll eventually let you see me." I nodded hoping it was the truth. I soon fell asleep.

When I woke up in the morning Dally was gone. I sighed and got up from the bed, I took a shower and got ready for the day.

Phoenix and Cherry are coming over later, I didn't want to particularly see Cherry, but Phoenix was friends with her again, and I trusted her judgment.

I heard a knock at the door, knowing it was Phoenix and Cherry I quickly walked down the stairs and opened the door.

I gave Phoenix a warm smile and said "Hey Phoenix, glad you could come." She smiled said "of course, thanks for inviting me over."

My gaze slowly moved over Cherry, she had a polite, Soc smile. I gave her a suspicious look and then said. "Come in." They both followed me into the living room.

After a moment of silence Phoenix asked "so are you still dating Dally?" I said "yes." She gave me a disapproving look, she didn't support Dally and I dating.

Cherry then spoke up and said "So, Phoenix, are you and Ponyboy still doing well together." I glared at her, she used to like Ponyboy, and possibly still does.

Phoenix looked a little sad and said "No, we broke up a few days ago." Cherry seemed to become a little smug. I rolled my eyes, my brother would never want to date her.

We all talked for a few more hours before Cherry had to go to a football game, she was a cheerleader, and Phoenix decided to go with her.

I was waiting for Ponyboy to arrive home, he and Johnny had gone to see a movie, but it started to get late and I was getting worried.

I decided I would go look for him. I started walking to the theater, but I saw Dally and Phoenix. I hid behind a building to be able to listen to their conversation.

I heard Phoenix say "you know you could do better than Jenny, a lot better, Jenny will never trust you, she has trust issues"

I started running off before I could hear Dally say in an upset, sarcastic tone "why would she have trust issues with an amazing friend like you?"

I made it back to my house, I couldn't even make it to my room before my vision was clouded with tears. I tripped on the steps trying to make my way up to my room, and I just laid there. Soon I heard the handle on the front door open, knowing Ponyboy and Johnny must have made it back from the movies.
