Chapter 14: It Worked

Inside the Avenger's Lab. Tony carefully places the stones in the gauntlet he made while Bruce and Rocket watch. With nervous precision, Tony manipulates the machine and carefully places all six stones into the gauntlet. Aloisia paces behind the group, picking at her fingers anxiously

"Boom!" Rocket shouts, Tony and Bruce jump a bit, and quickly groan at Rocket, who only laughs mischievously. They get the gauntlet out and move it over to another box, where it floats while Tony can now make adjustments with his own hands instead of machinery

"All right. The glove's ready. Question is, who's gonna snap their freaking fingers?" Rocket asks

"I'll do it"

"Excuse me?" Tony asks

"It's okay" Thor continues, the group all shout to stop him, pulling him back and preventing him for getting to close. Everyone knows that Thor is not particularly mentally stable enough to snap the gauntlet.

"Thor, just wait. We haven't decided who's gonna put that on yet" Steve explains

"I'm sorry. What, we're just sitting around waiting for the right opportunity?"

"We should at least discuss it" Scott continues.

"Look, sitting here staring at that thing is not gonna bring everybody back. I'm the strongest Avenger, okay? So this responsibility falls upon me. It's my duty"

"Normally you're right. It's not about that–" Tony begins

Thor shushs everyone, "It's not that– Stop it! Just let me!" Thor tears, "Just let me do it. Just let me do something good. Something right"

"Thor, you don't owe anyone anything, remember that please" Aloisia says, although her voice comes out fractured and quiet. She walks over to Tony and Thor

"Look– It's not just the fact that that glove is channeling enough energy to light up a continent, I'm telling you, you're in no condition" Tony explains, they all know Thor may be physically fit and strong enough but definitely isn't mentally.

"What do you– What do you think is coursing through my veins right now?"

"Cheez Whiz?" Rhodey retorts, Al glares at him. Knowing this is not the right moment to tease him. But she isn't too threatening, puffy eyes, oversized hoodie and red, tear stained cheeks.

"Lightning" Thor replies

"Yeah"

"Lightning won't help you, pal. It's gotta be me" Bruce says, Thor lets go of Tony. "You saw what those stones did to Thanos. It almost killed him. None of you could survive"

"How do we know you will?" Steve asks

"We don't. But the radiation's mostly gamma" He takes a good look at the gauntlet "It's like...I was made for this" Aloisia goes over to Thor.

"You have already proven yourself Thor, let bruce have this one okay?" Aloisia attempts to reassure him.

Meanwhile 2014 Nebula sneaks off to the Quantum portal and activates it using her robotic arm to hack into the system.

"Good to go, yeah?" Tony asks Bruce

"Let's do it"

"You remember– everyone Thanos snapped away ten months ago and just bringing them back to now, today. Don't change anything from the last ten months" Tony clarifies once more, none of them can mess this up. They desperate need it to work, and for them to do that they have to get it right.

"Got it" Bruce replies, Everyone gets ready and suits up. Aloisia takes her hoodie off, placing it on the chair next to her as they all prepare. Tony releases his nano suit, also forming a shield in front of him
