Chapter 12: Familiar

In New York, 2012, Steve jumps down from a nearby rooftop, holding the sceptre in one hand and his shield in the other. He lands, turning around when he hears Tony say, "Cap–" Steve spots Tony and Scott sitting in a broken car.

"Sorry, buddy. We got a– problem" Tony says

Scott scoffs, "Yeah, we do"

The two explain what has happened with the tesseract and how it is lost. They admit to not taking the HUlk or Loki's chaotic acts into account when they had been planning this. Forgetting that the Hulk had angrily taken the stairs.

"Well, what are we gonna do now?" Steve asks the pair

"You know what? Give me a break, Steve. I just got hit in the head with a Hulk"

Scott begins stressing , "You said that we had one shot. This– this was our shot. We shot it. It's shot. Six stones or nothing. Six stones or nothing-"

"You're repeating yourself, you know that? You're repeating yourself" Tony says, still sat in the car while Scott had gotten out.

"You're repeating yourself. You're repeating yourself. You know– No"

"Dude, come on!"

"You never wanted a time heist, you weren't on board with the time heist–" Scott continues to argue with Tony

"I dropped the ball"

"You ruined the time heist" Scott says angrily

"Is that what I did?"

"Yeah!"

Steve, in an attempt to break up the argument and find any sort of solution to what has happened, asks, "Are there any other options with the Tesseract?"

"No, no, no. There's no other options. There's no do-overs. We're not going anywhere else. We have one particle left. Each. That's it, alright? We use that– Bye, bye. You're not going home"

"Yeah, well if we don't try, then no one else is going home, either" Steve adds

"I got it. There's another way. To retake the Tesseract and acquire new particles. We'll stroll down memory lane. Military installation, Garden State" Tony says the realising lighting up his features as he jumps out the car. Steve realises too.

"When were they both there?"

"They were there at a– I've a vaguely exact idea"

"How vague?" Steve asks

"What are you talking about? Where are we going?" Scott wonders confused, not in the loop yet

"I know for a fact they were there–"

"Who's they? What are we doing?"

"And I know how I know" Toyn continues, the two of them ignoring Scotts questions as answering them is low on their priority list

"Guys, what's up? What is it?"

"Well, it looks like we're improvising" Steve says

"Right. What are we improvising?" Scott asks

Steve begins to walk over to Scott and hand him the sceptre saying, "Scott, get this back to the compound" Scott looks at it confused.

"Suit up" TOny says

"What's in New Jersey?" Scott asks

"0-4,"

"0-4–" Tony begins to give Steve coordinates, who repeats them back to ensure they are correct

"Uhh, 0-7."

"0-7. -"

"Excuse me..." Scott attempts to interrupt
