We walked through the woods for about 20 minutes. We came to a clearing and that's when I saw it, the prison. It had large gates surrounding it. I watched as biters tried to claw their way through the fences.

"I thought you said it was safe." I snapped at the blue-eyed boy that promised a sanctuary.

"It is. They just have to get them through the fence." Carl said pointing to a Korean man who was stabbing the biters as they banged against the metal fence. "Glenn!" Carl called. The Korean man turned towards us and ran to open the fences. "Come on we gotta be quick." Carl said before sprinting off towards the gates. Aiden and I glanced at each other before sprinting off towards Carl. In that moment, I couldn't decide if I had made a terrible decision following this boy.

"Who are they?" The Korean man, Glenn yelled to Carl once we were past the large fence and the gates where shut.

"This is Ava and her brother Aiden." Carl told Glenn. Glenn just stared at us. "They're going to stay here with us." Carl stated. He looked over at me and smiled. Before Glenn could even respond Carl grabbed my hand and dragged me towards the prison. I looked back to see Aiden standing by the gates, not moving an inch.

"Uhh Carl?" He turned around and I pointed over to where Aiden was standing, just by looking at him you could tell he was uncomfortable and unsure about this place.

"Aiden, you comin'? Carl yelled to my brother. Aiden didn't respond he just stated to walk up the grassy field. Carl turned around again and began leading us inside the prison. This was either going to be really good or really bad.

"Carl where have you been?" A man probably in his late 30's maybe even his early 40's asked. He has dark brown hair and deep blue eyes, he looked an awful lot like Carl. I came to the conclusion that this is most likely his father; the one Carl was trying to get away from. He's just lucky he knows who his father is, and that he's alive. I've never met mine, I don't know if he's alive I don't even know his first name. All I know is his last name, Dixon.

"I was out. This is Ava and her brother-"

"Carl." The man interrupted, although it came out more as 'Coral'. "Why did you leave? You know it's not safe out there."

"I'm fine, I can take care of myself." Carl stated in a harsh manner. "Now as I was saying this is Ava and her brother Aiden and they are joining us." Carl told him. He didn't ask he just told him what was going to happen. I'd never get away with talking to my mother like that, well I never would have gotten away with it.

"I'm Rick, I'm Carl's father." Rick told us both. "If you don't mind I have three questions to ask you." Aiden and I both nodded our heads and followed Rick to one of the tables and sat down. "How many walkers have you killed?" He asked.

"I don't know, a lot probably. We never really kept track." I told him, I looked over at Aiden, he nodded his head, agreeing with my statement.

"How many people have you killed?" I got a lump in my throat from his question. Did he really ask that? I didn't know what to say. Aiden and I both remained silent, both unsure of the correct way to answer the leaders question.

"Aiden hasn't killed any, but I've killed five." I said sadly. I hope this doesn't ruin Aiden's chances of staying here. If they send me away, then so be it at least one of my brothers will be safe.

"Why?" Rick finally asked.

"Two of them were trying to hurt my brothers they held knives to their throats, they didn't see me they only saw my uncle, so I shot them, I killed a woman I didn't even really know her but she wanted it to be over, she wanted to die she asked me to do it and I owed her, I killed my Uncle, he was bit, I couldn't stand to see him suffer any longer." I said. I didn't continue though It's bad enough I killed my uncle. Rick then asked the question I was hoping he wouldn't...

"What about the last one?"

"I killed my brother." I finally confessed. After I said this I knew they weren't going to let me stay, I did it to save my own ass and now he's dead. I looked over at Carl and he had the same look on his face as his father, sadness but mostly disappointment.

"No, she didn't." Aiden said. I look at him. He was wrong, no matter what he believed I knew the truth, his death was my fault. I should have tried harder to save him. I should have never left him behind. "We were running in the woods and a herd was following us, Asher, our brother twisted his ankle and couldn't walk. He told us to leave him behind, it was the hardest thing we've ever had to do but we had no other choice." Aiden told them.

Rick nodded his head in understanding."Carl go show them some empty cells." Rick told Carl. Carl smiled at me and waved for us to follow him. I don't think I'll ever be able to live with what I did and all I can think about is how much Asher would have loved this place.
