I watched as my mom paced the living room, her nails in her mouth. She tended to bite her nails when she was nervous. I looked over to Aiden and Asher, each sat on the brown leather couch across from me, their eyes trained on my mother as well.

"What's taking dad and uncle Danny so long?" Asher asked nervously from his seat. I looked over to my little brother and frowned.

"They'll be here." I told him.

"And if they aren't?" Aiden asked, rolling his eyes at my optimism. I love Aiden but he knows Asher freaks out in these types of situations and all he was doing was making his nerves worse, something that he typically did unintentionally.

"Then we leave, like they told us to." I muttered.

"How could you just leave them behind?" Asher asked. I didn't have the heart to answer my brothers question. They told us to leave if they didn't make it back in a half hour, if they aren't back we leave, simple.

I stood from my spot on the red armchair. We were staying in a random house we were passing, we didn't know who lived here, we didn't care. I walked over to my mother who stood by the window, watching and waiting.

"Mom." I spoke. She didn't turn around, she was glued to her spot. She'd have trouble leaving that sick man behind, it was hard to even call him my father, he disgusted me. "Mom we have to go now." I spoke, glancing down to the watch on my wrist, it had already been forty minutes; she refused to leave the safety of this house.

"They aren't back yet." She spoke, never turning to face me. I let out a long and irritated sigh.

"They said thirty minutes, it's been forty. We can make it without the guns they're bringing back." I told her.

"But we can't make it without them!" She exclaimed, now facing me. My mom tended to get too attached to things whether it was people or objects.

"They told us to leave it's not safe here anymore!" I exclaimed. I knew that she was aware of how unsafe this location truly was but that didn't stop her from moving. I watched impatiently as she turned back to the window, waiting for the man who haunts my dreams and my life. "You need to take care of your children, now!" I exclaimed, anger taking over my body. She didn't listen to a word that I was saying, making me even angrier than before. "Those things are trying to get in through the back door, we have to go!" I exclaimed. She again, ignored me like I was trash on the side of the road. "If you care about us at all you'd get us out of here!" I yelled, my face turning a bright shade of red from the anger.

She wouldn't budge, she wouldn't speak.

"I guess I know your true feelings then." I spat before rushing to my brothers who stared at me like the devil had just entered the house. Shock was covering their features. "We need to go now! Get your stuff!" I told them. They each nodded their heads and sprinted to the kitchen, where they left their belongings.

I walked over to the arm chair and grabbed my army green book back and threw it over my shoulders. My brothers ran back into the room, each ready to go. I smiled and nodded my head at the two boys, they were forced to grow up thanks to this world, but they were more than ready for it. I grabbed my crossbow and loaded and arrow into it, ready to kill some of the dead creatures that lurked beyond these grey walls.

"Get your knives ready." I told them. They each pulled out small hunting knives I found them a week ago. I lead to two boys to the brown door that separated us from the dead. I felt a hand grab onto my wrist. I looked up and was met with my mother's brown eyes, they held nothing but determination.
