That's not funny (oneshot)

Two-Bit walked into the Curtis' house and sat down on the couch. Something must've been bugging him something awful, because he didn't even turn on Mickey Mouse right away. It was like a 4-minute delay.

Dally and Sodapop walked into the house. They noticed Two-Bit there.

"Hey, Two," Sodapop said. "Why do you look like your cat got hit by a car?"

Two-Bit mumbled something. It was unintelligible.

"Huh?"

"My dad left."

Dally covered his mouth to keep himself from laughing out loud. Soda saw the genuine sadness in Two-Bit's grey eyes, and nudged Dally in the side.

"He's being dead serious!"

"He is? Oh shit-" Dally's laughter quickly died after that. If he had a heart, he'd feel guilty. But it's Dallas Winston, so he just felt like he reacted incorrectly to the situation.

Sodapop went over to Two-Bit and sat on the couch next to him. Dally leaned on the back of it.

"Are you doing okay?" Ponyboy came home from school, noticed the interaction, and silently gave Two-Bit the last piece of chocolate cake. It's better off being eaten by him instead of Steve.

"Yeah, I-I just don't get it. He could've told my mom what was buggin' him instead of just walking out on us. Seriously, they got divorced in like a day." He paused for a moment to eat some cake. "I don't know if I did something wrong, either. Maybe I am a bigger disappointment than I thought."

"Hey," Sodapop put a hand on his shoulder. "You're not a disappointment. At least you haven't gone to jail yet, unlike someone."

Dally looked around and saw Soda, Ponyboy, and Two-Bit's eyes on him.

"What?"

"Oh, nothing." They stifled laughs at Dallas's reaction. Dally just flipped off everyone and headed out.

"Anyway," Soda said while looking at Two-Bit, "you're not a disappointment. You're our friend, regardless of whether or not you have a dad."

Ponyboy looked over at Darry's room then spoke up.

"Maybe Darry can be your replacement father figure. He's mine and Soda's."

"Heh. Maybe." Two-Bit cracked his famous smile and got up. "It's been nice talkin' to y'all. I'm gonna go shoplift the convenience store."

Two-Bit left the house, back to his old ordinary self. Soda waved goodbye then looked over at Ponyboy.

"Go do your homework."

"I despise thee."
