Because he's the father figure we all need.

~ If Soda or Ponyboy get in trouble, Darry refuses to bake chocolate cake for a week straight.

~ Darry already has a few grey hairs.

~ Darry wakes up at 6:00 on the dot every single day. Even weekends.

~ Darry has a sum of money always ready in case he needs to bail somebody out of jail (usually Dally)

~ Darry leaves flowers at his parents' grave once a week.

~ Darry went around town looking for Ponyboy when he didn't come home after he ran away. He didn't stop until Dally told the cops that they headed for Texas.

~ Darry is unable to relax because one of the guys is always worrying him in some way, shape, or form.
