"Ouch." I hissed, pulling my hand away from the prickly plant that had seemed to have taken it upon itself to find a way to ruin my day. The dark leafed bush bore some of the most sweet and delicious berries around the camp, and it was my duty as head of the gardeners to harvest them. Wiping away the tiny speck of red off my finger, I dove back in, managing to grab the bunch of fruit I'd been going for and get it off the plant without any more casualties.

"There you are." I almost jumped at my boyfriends sudden voice behind me, making me spin around and throw myself into his arms as he laughed, pulling me in closer. "Jesus, Seph. If I hadn't spoken to you, what, half an hour ago> I'd have thought we'd been away from each other for months." he teased lightly as I frowned, pulling away and smacking his arm playfully, unable to keep the smile off my face.

"No, Newt... you don't understand the pain of having to get those berries... its cruel, really. Pure torture..." I sighed dramatically, but smiled again when I properly set eyes on the boy before my. His blonde hair had grown even longer, and he had let it - giving him soft locks falling in front of his eyes that gleamed in the golden setting sun. And even worse, he was wearing that maroon sweater of his, knowing damn well it was the one I liked to steal from him the most. It was impossible to complain about my day when I had him in front of me.

"Well, love, why don't we try make your day a bit better? Come on - you've gotten more than enough of those berries for the next few days, if Vince tries telling you they aren't enough, you can tell him I just had to steal you for a while." The blonde said in a low voice, pulling me in for a quick kiss before grabbing my hand and walking towards one of my favourite rocks to just go sit on. I was very confused - the boy never just interrupted me like this in the middle of a working day, not that I minded it. It was just unusual.

I could also tell something was on Newt's mind, from the way he was fidgeting through our conversation, and the slight uncertainty of his words. I'd be worried, but the two of us had made a pact to never try and hide something dangerous from the other ever again. Not after what had happened with Newt.

"I still can't believe it... just doesn't feel possible that we got here what... a year and a half ago?" Newt started softly, looking out over the sparkling ocean, leaning on the side of the rock. I frowned, standing next to the blonde and letting my head fall gently on his shoulder. Again, it wasn't like him to start talking so vaguely like this, but I'd bite.

"Uh, in thirteen days, it'll actually be exactly two years since we arrived here. I'll be turning nineteen soon... hell - I may already have." I said with a laugh, not taking my eyes off Newt the whole time. "It's been almost seven months since we finally moved in together, and about four since we managed to get Mitski." I smiled at the thought of the tiny little white ball of fluff that was sleeping back home, probably having stolen my bed like she loved to do.

When Vince had told me that the main camps resident kitty was going to have kittens, I'd pleaded him to let me take one, but we had had to wait till she was at least two months old to take her from the rest of the pack, and even now, Mitski and her family met most days, as they were all allowed into our house if they wanted to be there - so we basically had a whole pack of cats living with us, but neither Newt or I minded at all. But Mitski had been the runt of the litter, and the little fluff ball had taken to me, practically cementing her place in our family immediately.

Newt blew a few strands of hair out of his face, breathing in shakily before going on. "Wow, thats... it feels like yesterday." his warm eyes met mine, "Have I told you how much you mean to me lately, Seph?" he asked softly, and I couldn't take it anymore.
