The somber atmosphere of mourning enveloped Aurora's home as friends and loved ones gathered, all dressed in black, preparing for Mia's funeral. The air was heavy with grief and regret, each person silently grappling with their own memories of Mia and the profound loss they now faced.
Among the attendees was Mia's uncle, a solemn figure accompanied only by his young daughter. The nurse, aware of the delicate situation, approached Mia's uncle with a gentle demeanor.
"I'm sorry for your loss," the nurse began softly, her voice tinged with sympathy. "Mia's passing was unexpected."
Mia's uncle nodded, his eyes clouded with sorrow. "Thank you," he replied quietly, his voice thick with emotion. "How did it happen?"
The nurse hesitated, choosing her words carefully. "It was a car accident," she explained gently, deciding to shield the truth of the circumstances surrounding Mia's coma and eventual passing. "She didn't suffer."
Mia's uncle nodded again, his expression pained but accepting. He glanced around the room, his gaze settling on Aurora, who stood apart from the others, her eyes downcast and filled with unshed tears.
The young girl, Mia's cousin, tugged on her father's sleeve, her eyes bright with curiosity. "Daddy, who's that?" she asked innocently, pointing towards Aurora.
Aurora looked up, meeting the girl's gaze. There was a flicker of recognition in her eyes, remembering how Mia had introduced her to this lively child during happier times.
"That's Aurora," Mia's uncle replied gently, kneeling down to his daughter's level. "She was a good friend of Mia's."
The young girl's face lit up with a smile, her sorrow momentarily forgotten. She darted away from her father's side and ran towards Aurora, who knelt down to greet her with open arms.
"You're Aurora!" the girl exclaimed excitedly, throwing her arms around Aurora's neck in a tight hug. "Mia told me all about you. She said you're really nice."
Aurora's eyes filled with tears once more as she hugged Mia's cousin gently. "Thank you," she whispered hoarsely, her voice thick with emotion. "I'm glad Mia talked about me."
Wanda, who had been quietly observing from a distance, approached Aurora and Mia's cousin, her heart breaking for both of them. She placed a comforting hand on Aurora's shoulder, offering silent support as they shared a moment of connection amidst the sorrow.
As the funeral service began, Aurora remained composed on the outside, but inside, her grief threatened to overwhelm her. She stood beside Wanda, clutching Mia's bracelet tightly in her hand, finding solace in the presence of those who understood her pain.
Throughout the service, memories of Mia flooded Aurora's mind - their laughter, their shared dreams, and the bond they had forged through good times and bad. She silently vowed to honor Mia's memory, carrying her friend's spirit with her always.
As the ceremony drew to a close and Mia was laid to rest, Aurora stood by Mia's grave, her tears finally falling freely. Wanda stood beside her, offering silent strength and solidarity, knowing that healing would take time but believing in the resilience of their shared bond.
The gathering dispersed slowly, each person carrying their own memories of Mia and the impact she had made on their lives. Aurora lingered at the graveside, whispering a final goodbye to her dear friend, her heart heavy with loss but also filled with gratitude for having known Mia's love and friendship.
As they left the cemetery, Aurora's thought's went to Natasha, she promised herself after that tragedy she'll visit her. She needed her.
