𝙏𝙃𝙀𝙔 said the best way to eliminate
someone's presence from your life was to completely avoid them, not giving them even the slightest attention. I had adopted this defense mechanism throughout my adolescence, and I had always been grateful for its effectiveness.

However, the consequence was facing backlash from those who failed to understand me. Despite this, I continued to persevere because caring too much about others' opinions, whether positive or negative, could only lead to pain if their intentions were different.

That was why I had been friendless for so long. I had been taken advantage of and betrayed, except for one person whom I deeply appreciated. He was the complete opposite of the negativity in my life, and he was the best person I knew. Unfortunately, the world saw how lucky I was so fate had decided to separate us.

I could not comprehend why I was being punished in such an unjust manner. I had never shown anything but pure intentions, yet I was followed by someone who exuded overconfidence and sought attention.

"I'm so hungry! I rushed and skipped breakfast at home."

I wished I could silence him. His voice was grating to my ears.

I found myself accompanied by two contrasting individuals-one indifferent and the other, well, nevermind...

"Hey, thanks for inviting me! I was surprised when you asked me to come along."

Jerk! I never wanted you to come! The audacity of this guy!

"Whatever," I murmured.

"You seem off today. Any problems at home?"

I had no interest in engaging with him. If only Jay could talk to him, I would be grateful.

No one responded, and I sneaked a glance at Jay, who seemed lost in his own world, as if he was not even present with us.

"Dohoon."

I rolled my eyes as he called my name. We were still heading to the cafeteria, but my appetite had vanished.

"Hey, I'm sorry if I offended you, but please, can you not pretend like I don't exist?"

"I don't need to pretend."

That's right, Dohoon! You don't need to pretend he doesn't exist because he didn't matter to you.

"Dohoon, seriously, I meant no harm. I just really wanted to hang out with you."

"Let's just walk peacefully."

I concluded the conversation and quickened my pace to create distance, but he did the same. In my peripheral vision, he raised both arms and nonchalantly held his nape. He was so carefree!

As usual, all eyes were on him. This was what I detested the most-I preferred not to be seen rather than be looked at because of someone else, especially that it was him!

"I'll find a table first," Jay uttered.
"Shinyu, I'll have the same set as yours."

"No problem, Jay!"

Wait, Jay was leaving me with him? Jay was about to walk away when I called out to him.

"I was the one who invited you. I should ask you what you want to eat."

"I'm fine with anything."

"What if you accompany me and let him find a table for us?" I suggested.

I did not want to be with him, people might assume we were friends when that was clearly not the case.

I saw Jay glance at the person beside me, then I heard him whistle.
