They Keep Going

Police don't just write tickets and bust the bad guys. Firefighters don't just put out fires. 911 dispatchers don't just answer phone calls. They do much more than what you may think.

Police officers, firefighters, and 911 dispatchers all have tough jobs. They see things and hear things- bad things that stay with them for a long time. While recovering, they often see or hear something else. They just have to push it aside and keep going.

Police have to deal with criminals, and sometimes the general public. The criticism is harsh, but they keep going. Firefighters have to keep rescuing and treating the next patient. They run into burning buildings all the time. Sometimes they have to walk through fire in different ways, but they keep going. Dispatchers have to stay calm and be polite while the person on the other end is yelling at them. They have to keep answering the next phone call, and keep going.

It's not always easy, but they do it anyway because they love their job. They serve and protect. They guide them out of the fire. They wait with the victims until emergency personal services can arrive at the scene. They help people; they save lives.

Even though they may see and hear bad things, they save lives. They change people's lives, even though they might not always realize it. They may not get much thanks. If you see a first responder, thank them. They go through a lot to keep you safe and this is just a part of what they do for you.

If a first responder is reading this right now, I want to say thank you!! You deserve it! You are my role model and hero to me! You're an inspiration to me!
