A/N: I just want to warn that this does mention officer suicide, but I also write to the officers at the end.
Also, I just published my law enforcement motivational video. It is over 10 minutes long, but if you want to see it, it's at the top. :)
This has really been a rough week for law enforcement.
A couple officers, one in Nebraska and the other in Kentucky were killed in vehicle accidents.
Another was shot and killed when he used a taser on the fleeing suspect in Oklahoma.
A couple of Miami officers were ambushed by six people. Both survived, I believe miraculously. (There's probably more officers, who were injured, but this is all that I'm currently aware of.)
I hear everytime when an officer has been killed in the line of duty on an app on my phone. It happens more often than you might think.
And officer suicide. (Two, a sergeant and a chief, last week, and another more this week.) Many times we don't like to talk about these things. As much as we try to ignore it, it's still a sad reality.
We sure can't change this reality by ignoring it. We can change it by letting our officer know they are appreciated. Maybe buy them a lunch or coffee. Or just tell them a sincere "Thank you". Or even something as simple as a smile, wave, handshake, hug, or word of encouragement.
Everything and anything helps. We need to let them know we recognize the difference they make. And the most important of all we need to come together as a nation and pray for our public safety backbone that keeps is all safe day in and day out.
If an officer is reading this, thank you.
Because you continued and maybe still are serving in one of the toughest jobs in the world, you are a strong person. In fact, you are the strongest, most caring person I know.
That's why I look up to you guys so much. It because you care enough about the safety of the people in your communities to help them in their time of need. You've seen what you've seen, so they don't have to. That in itself is a sacrifice to make.
I want to let all of you know that even though it doesn't always seem like it, there still are countless people supporting you at the brink of what some could say a civil war. Those protesters who spat in your face and through bricks at you do NOT represent the American people. The majority of American people support you. The reason you don't see them most of the time? They are at work providing for their own families.
Your safety, your peace of mind, and your family matters to me. I care about and am praying for each and every one of you nightly.
