Had a bad day at work? Sure, everyone has at some point. But some have it worse than others.

There's a first responder somewhere, who doesn't want his family members to know he or she almost didn't make it home last night.

A police officer had someone unexpectedly pull a gun on him, when he was only on a traffic stop. Without his training, he would've been shot and possibly killed.

A firefighter had been running low on oxygen, when debris of the burning building fell on him. Luckily one of his buddies was able to to pull him out of the rubble just in time.

An EMT was treating a victim, when the patient attacked him. Luckily his partner was there and could help him.

These are just a few fictional situations, but I'm sure are true to life.

First responders, who saw or heard something terrible happen, sometimes suffer from PTSD. (I've already made a chapter about this.)

They have a tougher job than you might think! So next time you think you had a bad day at work, read this and you'll feel blessed to have the job you do.

You walk out the door every morning, without a thought about it. It's true you may not come home. A car accident. Anything could happen.

Like anyone, first responders don't like to think about it. I'm pretty sure it crosses their mind from time to time. When they kiss their spouse, in the back of both their minds they're hoping it isn't their last.

Whether it's on scene or on the way, first responders risk their lives for us every hour of every day all over the world.

So next time you see a hero, thank them! They will appreciate it so much!!! Trust me!
