Society hates the sheepdog, because he looks so much like the wolf. Only when the wolf strikes, does society turn to the sheepdog.
Many people are given a false impression of our police. Sure there are the 1% bad cops out there, but that doesn't automatically make the other 99% bad. Most of them do the job only to help people. The 99% will risk their lives for you, a total stranger, whether you support them or not.
Hollywood protrys a lot of things wrong. It's not realistic. When officers tase someone, many times the electricity doesn't stop the suspect. It's possible they could shoot back.
It doesn't make things any better when people criticize the way they handle things. Most of the time the things they do are done for a reason. People on the internet watch a video of police brutality, then act like they're experts on the topic. The fact is most of them haven't had a bit of training in their life. They haven't been trained like the officer has been.
Read behind the headlines. More often than not there's more to meet the eye. And when you watch a police brutality video, does it show what happens before that? Or at least, what the situation is?
What do think our country's next generation will grow up thinking? They'll end up trusting the wolves, and not the sheepdogs.
The worst thing is our officers are now hesitating. They already risk their lives for you. Before they can protect you, they have to protect themselves. It's only common sense.
The difference between the good guys and the bad guys is whether they use human shields or they make themselves human shields.
It takes a special person to risk so much for people who care so little.
