America's Divide

I've seen it. You've seen it. Whether it was on the news, the Internet, or maybe in your own city, you've seen the divide and destruction. For months and months, the divide in our country has gotten worse. You've seen the protests, which have often escalated into riots. It's happened way too often.

No matter what you are protesting for, either BLM or against our new president, you should learn the difference between protests and riots.

A protest is "an expression or declaration of objection, disapproval, or dissent, often in opposition to something a person is powerless to prevent or avoid."  [Credits to Dictionary.com]

A riot is "a noisy, violent public disorder caused by a group or crowd of persons, as by a crowd protesting against another group, a government policy, etc., in the streets."  [Credits to Dictionary.com]

Honestly, which one sounds more like what is happening in our country?

Rioters have broken windows of cars and businesses. They have thrown bricks, rocks, bottles, flares, chunks of concrete, and any other form of weapon they can get their hands on, at the police. They have also thrown fireworks and glass on top of businesses, at the windows of a limousine, breaking them. They even threw trash at some Trump supporters. I could go on and on.

Sure, protesting is legal and constitutional

Sure, protesting is legal and constitutional. The problem comes when people are blocking traffic, hurting people, and destroying property. That's called riots and it's crazy.

The point is violence doesn't help anything. It makes the whole situation worse. Isn't it ironic that the same people who say that they are against racism and violence and for love, are the people that are rioting? Like I said, crazy.

Picture yourself choosing between two different groups of people. The first group is violently throwing things at other people they don't agree with and destroying businesses and other property. The second is peacefully saying what they believe and debating. Who are you going to listen to? Even if you don't agree with them, you'll choose the peaceful side. Sure, you would. Almost anyone would. Well, unless of course, you leave altogether because of the dangerous rioters. I sure would.

Those officers that you see holding the line during a riot... are human. Though they are behind that mask and shield, they're human. They're working overtime for their wives and kids waiting at home. They protect you while you protest. They may not always agree with what you protest about and that's not a problem. They really do care about your safety and your constitutional right to peaceably protest. Proof of that is what happened in Dallas.

And I don't care if you're for or against Donald Trump. Whether or not you say "Not my president" or not, he IS your president (as long as you are an American citizen). I won't get too much into politics more than necessary. But I'm just saying as an American citizen if you want America to succeed as a country, you have to at least give him a chance. He's already done plenty of good things that you probably don't have a clue about. You don't have to like him to respect him as YOUR president.

You want America to succeed. Right?

So why the divide?

But of course, I'm just a teen

But of course, I'm just a teen. I don't know anything. Lol

P.S. I know this doesn't really talk much about the police or any other first responder, but I had that in me and I had to put it somewhere. If anyone is reading this, thank you for reading my rant. I appreciate it. Have a nice day/night. :)
